[L278]Letter To The University
by Admin, Adm

It is neither my intent nor my position to state whether this is right or wrong. However, what is the point of the university system if its benefits are going to be ignored, especially by those whom should be setting the "standards" for us!

I have recently lost what remained of my fragile civility, washed away in a sea of psychologically damaging and physically depressing idiocy.

These events have resulted in a revelation, almost a renaissance because, I have until now, always assumed the purpose of university was to *facilitate* the learning process.

I now see that we are intended to simply turn our minds off, sweep away all the mysteries of the world, all the challenges to our intelligence and say God did it.

Where is the incentive to attempt to achieve results through enduring efforts, if we students must rigidly and inflexibly follow instructions, this is not how we learn, improve, and evolve!

There may be valuable practical knowledge in the learning process, and I'm not implying that the diploma or higher marks aren't generally important, but there is more to it than just these things.

The university experience was meant to be more meaningful than just learning facts, rigidly and inflexibly following instructions to pass examinations, to get a degree and a beginning to a career!

What of the attitude and ethics acquired and tested during the learning process, considering that such things are presumably a requirement of a magnificent career?

But more importantly, this is meant to be a place where our efforts and hard work are never to be overlooked and always pay off in the end.

Is university not meant to be a place where the seemingly irrelevant is in fact intended to facilitate the inner education of our minds To help us become responsible adults and free us from the restrictive bonds of spoon-fed general education?

Is university not meant to be a place where results are definitely significant and representative of one's achievements?

Is university not meant to teach us the proper attitude about work, about play, and most importantly, about life!

I have been re-evaluating these beliefs, obviously, this kind of attitude is not supported, and such things are lost of direction, and everything has become meaningless.

I now know we are intended to just go floundering helplessly from module to module, aimlessly not knowing or caring for the reason to do so, just as long as we follow instructions and don't ask questions!

Where is the incentive to attempt to achieve results through enduring efforts, if such things are to be ignored?

Where is the acknowledgment that one is indeed walking a correct path? Where is the feeling that each second is being well spent? What will we remember of all this, will we be able to proudly look back with no regrets?

Is this what a university diploma is supposed to provide, and yet for what? What difference would it then make in graduating with a 1:1 or a 2:2?

I see no point to this if we must forgo use of our sense, reason and intellect in the endeavour, without some such incentive it is little more than torture with very little higher significance at all.

What is the point of studying? What is the point of university? I criticized part of a module, that is how we learn, improve, and evolve!

I am now being penalized for doing so - so who's really criticizing whom? It is a two-way street, and it should be open to everyone, especially to us students that the system is designed to help support!

Sincerely
