The rat race of the world and people has left our kids in a tail spin. I became disabled 3 years ago due to the VA. In that time I have been able to slow down, (I had no choice, due to the fact that I am mobility impaired) I have watched TV and people speed by me. A great example was last night, when I was watching one of the news channels. What they were talking about was the movie “Flags of our Fathers", and they were discussing about the image of the flag raising at Iwo jima during WWII, and comparing that to the images that made news from Iraqi Freedom with the prison scandal.
What this shows is the lack of respect and patriotism in the youths today. I happen to be at a conference a few years back, where the author of the book “Flags of our Fathers" was the key note speaker. What he was telling us about was the fact that none of those men EVER felt like they were heroes. The difference between the men and women back them and up until the late 70’s, is they didn’t have a sense of entitlement. Here is an example of the lack of respect that younger people have. I am 38 years old and I get around with Canadian crutches for short distances and wheelchair or scooter for long distance. I went on a trip with my family to Disney World, and my wife was pushing in a wheelchair through a crowd, when a kid around 14 or 15 didn’t want to wait for me to pass so he jumped over me in the wheelchair!!!! If our youth cant even have respect for someone that is in a wheelchair, what do you think they will do when it comes time for them to take over the country.
My children are in the public school system now; they were in private schools when we lived in Louisiana, my son is now in the 6th grade and I am amazed at the stories my son has been telling me. He tells me when he is on the bus all the kids do is curse and cause trouble and all of the kids are 6th and 7th graders. Also, he tells me that kids sleep in class ALL the time and talk back to teachers and the teachers are powerless to correcting it. Now this isn’t the job of the teachers, it is the job of the parents. The problem is so many divorced families, and no consistent values and morals. Think about it, parents that are divorced really have low morals anyway. I know that sounds cruel but welcome to reality!!!! If you think you have morals and are divorced, think about why you are divorced. Is it because you had an affair? Is it because your mate had an affair? What did you do or not do to cause your mate to have one? (Now this is in conjunction with there low morals to do it also)
People are not even aware of what is going on in our children’s lives. And talking to the kids for 30 seconds in between checking emails and watching TV DO NOT COUNT!!!!!! How many of you have meals as a FAMILY EVERYDAY? This is an important time, for family discussion and to find out what is going on in your family. Most people reading this will say I don’t have time for this!! This is BS you will have to make time, skip TV shows or skip answering the phone or emails. If parents would stick marriages out and put the FAMILY FIRST, we can return our country to the stature that our fore fathers had worked so hard to build and how we have unraveled so quickly!!!! People make fun of the Amish people because they are different, but they are the only set of people that is maintaining any sort or morals and values. All of the Amish people in a community is aware of potential problems and they deal with it as a community. Also the divorce rate among Amish people is Nil. This is because when they enter into marriage, they understand that it is a life commitment. The biggest influence in a child’s life is the same sex parent. If a child is involved in a divorced family they only get partial exposure to both parents and usually the divorce is ugly and the kids are always in the middle. So when a kid goes crazy and shots, stabs, or threatens to blow up something YOU as a parent are to blame!!!! Parents need to start taking responsibility for there kids and get involved with there lives. Stop looking to the government to raise your kids, or for the school system to raise your kids. Get active and stay active because you have only YOURSELF to blame if you don’t and if they do something wrong. And just remember this, they are the ones that will be running this country and taking care of YOU when you are old. Also, remember when they run this country they are the ones with the finger on the trigger to the nuclear bombs that can end the world.
