What I am about to share with you is probably not something you have heard before. You see, it is completely possible to have a successful network marketing business...online. How? Well, it requires you to play by an entirely different set of rules. Ones that you may not even be aware exist. Ones your upline is almost certainly not promoting.

Here are the 8 essential steps to profiting from an online MLM business.

1.Acquire Business Skills

This is vital to having a successful Multilevel Marketing business. Your business is not a hobby. If you want your business to succeed, you need to treat it like a business. You need to go to "work" everyday. You need to record profits and expenses, file taxes, and acquire any basic business skills that you are currently lacking.

2.Educate Yourself on Online MLM

The online Network Marketing world is different from its offline counterpart. Offline, you need to find prospects. Online, you want your prospects to come to you. Do you know how to accomplish this?

The first step, and it is vital if you want to do MLM online is to educate yourself on how it works, why it is different, and what you need to do in order to succeed. Remember, the information your upline has given you probably only pertains to the offline world.

3.Diversify

A carnal sin in the Multilevel Marketing world seems to be diversification, yet that is exactly what you need to do online. When you diversify your income streams, you are able to earn extra cash to get you through the early financially straining days of building your business, and you also allow prospects to find you in different ways. Do not be afraid to broaden your financial horizons. DO NOT put all your eggs in one basket.

4.Make a One Year Plan

Network Marketing does not happen overnight. Your business will take time, real effort, and money. Plan on working without significant results for at least a year. But make sure you plan. If you set a goal for yourself, and break down steps you need to take in order to reach that goal, you can accomplish a lot in one year's time, and build the foundation of a phenomenal business.

5.Pick a Company

If you are not already involved in multilevel marketing, now is the time to pick a company. No, you don't want to do this first. By picking a company now, you have avoided the emotional ploys most companies use to get you pepped up. You now are able to make a clear, level headed decision about what opportunity will work best for you. If you already have a company, now would be the time to reexamine it to make sure that it is in your best interest to proceed.

6.Find a Niche

After deciding on a company and product, you need to figure out what niche market you will be advertising to. What groups of people need your product or opportunity? How can you present your product or opportunity to them in a way that meets their needs? This step is vital to building a successful business. You cannot market to everyone. You need to narrow the field.

7.Build a Website

After finding your company, your niche market, and getting an online network marketing education, you need to put it all together into forming a great website. DO NOT rely on your company sponsored replicated site. In fact, don't even mention your duplicated site on your personal site. This site will be for finding your niche market and getting them interested in you, and whatever opportunity you are promoting. Signing them up for your program will come later.

8.Just Do It

The most important step to online network marketing success is to just do it! Get off your bum, stop over analyzing, stop procrastinating, and get on with it! Your future can only change if you do.

I think the "secret" can be summed up in one word: momentum. And momentum doesn't seem to be created by massive effort, "big breaks", or charismatic, flamboyant personalities. As a matter of fact, from my own experience I can't find many common denominators between the leaders I know in the field of online network marketing. There are men and women, old and young, people from blue collar backgrounds as well as white collar professionals.

So how do you create momentum? Here are six keys that I have identified in people that I personally work with, in and out of my organization:

1. They have a vision of what they want and a plan to get there. Their "why" is strong. They usually have very specific reasons that they are building their business, and they are serious about achieving their goals. They have a business plan, and act from that plan, which includes their goals, strategies, and marketing methods.

2. They don't treat it like a hobby, they treat it like a business. They are willing to invest in their business. These are the people that don't complain about the cost of marketing. These people are willing to invest $200-$300 a month or more marketing their online network marketing business.

3. They are consistent. They work their business every single day, at least 5 days a week or more, where those that are unsuccessful work their business once or twice a week, if that. In Jim Collins amazing book, "Good to Great", he compares building momentum to getting a huge flywheel spinning. The first push doesn't do much, or the second or third, or even the hundredth. But over time, if you are consistent and never leave the task, you get it spinning so fast that even if you grabbed hold of it with all your might you couldn't stop it. Building an online network marketing business is just like that, you have to give it consistent effort over a reasonable period of time, usually at least six months.

4. They take 100% ownership of their business. They aren't waiting on anybody else to do anything for them, they just dig in and get to work. You will never catch these people blaming their sponsor for their lack of success. Regardless of the skills of their sponsor, they are going to get it done.

5. They are students of the business, constantly learning and studying. They spend time not only in personal development, but they are students of business and of marketing. They also invest a fair amount of time in trial and error, and discovering what doesn't work to find out what does. They're not afraid to fail if they learned a lesson in the process.

6. They are passionate about the products. It seems that success is very closely related to the passion a person has for the products they market. These people are not only fans of the products, they are usually on the "big" autoship and are proud to talk to anybody about the products they represent.

I believe anybody can activate their membership with a company they feel good about, and simply apply these six principles for six months and have success. It's not that hard, it's just that most people don't understand the power of consistent effort, with the right attitude, for a reasonable period of time. So if you want success in the online network marketing world, just apply these six fundamentals to your business and get ready for the bonus checks to roll in!
