[F477]Foods That Cause Cellulite
by Patricia Hammond, Pat
Among most people, cellulite is one of the major causes of insecurity. Anyone with cellulite would simply wish to cover up even at the beach. More determined individuals however are set on getting rid of cellulite. Understanding the main cause of cellulite is the first key to helping prevent or get rid of cellulite.

Spotting Cellulite

Those clustered, soft and tiny skin bumps and lumps under the skin which are cellulite. Cellulite is often found on the buttocks and thighs. It was believed for some time that cellulite was a disorder among fat women. It has since been established however that cellulite can also be found among thin women and sometimes even among men. Thin people can often find out if they have cellulite by pinching the skin in between the thumb and forefinger. Dimpled pinched skin is a sign that there is cellulite underneath that thin appearance.

Fats and Cellulite

Cellulite is mainly caused by body fats. Underneath the skin are collagen connective tissues that separate the fat into honeycomb compartments. These connective tissues also connect body fats with skin tissues. The fats in the compartments may begin to expand due to weight gain or increased water retention, making the connective tissues expand. When the tissues have expanded beyond their capacity, they will harden and make the skin inflexible. When this happens, the fat will begin to spill over, resulting in a lumpy appearance.

Cellulite Cause Theories

There are many theories as to why and how fats develop and accumulate the way it does. Genes and hormone levels may cause cellulite. There may be no way to avoid cellulite if you are genetically predisposed to develop them.

On the hormonal aspect, cellulite may develop in women because of the swinging levels of hormones during puberty and pregnancy. Increased levels of estrogen may be a cause of cellulite production.

People with poor blood circulation are also likely to develop cellulites. It is generally accepted that healthy blood flow helps in the elimination of body waste including excess body fats. Blood circulation may be impeded by a tremendous lack of body movement compounded by a diet that is high in fats. A general lack of exercise and a poor diet therefore may result in poor blood circulation and poor fat burn up that may lead to cellulite production.

One other theory for the cause of cellulite is called the free radical theory. Our body may contain excessive amounts of free radicals which may attack other cells in the body. This may cause damage to the circulatory system and to the skin organ itself. Damage to the circulatory system may mean less efficiency in body waste disposal and less chances of vitamins and minerals being transported to body cells and tissues. Damage to the skin may result in a reduction in collagen and elastin thereby speeding up the visible effects of cellulite.

Cellulite and Treatment

As treatment, some people take oral medications and pills to eliminate or reduce cellulite. Oral treatments however may not be completely effective. The damage to the circulatory system may prevent the effective transport of oral medication. Topical treatments are almost always more effective. Pick a topical treatment that is rich in free radical fighting antioxidants like Revitol to help with proper blood circulation and skin firming.

If you want to know how to effectively get rid of cellulite, the first best thing to do is to learn what causes it. What is the cause of cellulite? This question is often asked because it is a common condition that can affect a lot of people. You may not know what cellulite is exactly. If that is the case, you should start learning about it. You might just be one of the millions who have it.
Cellulite
Cellulite has been considered a cosmetic and not a medical term for a long time now. If you are therefore looking for the definition and cause of cellulite, you might not find it in medical books. Cellulite is not really considered a life-threatening condition that deserves immediate medical attention.
If you need help looking for your cellulite deposits, try looking at your buttocks and thighs. You might also want to check your legs. In some people, cellulite may be quite obvious. The dimpled area that may look like cottage cheese or orange peels that jiggle is a sign of cellulite. If you can't see it, try pinching your flesh. That would reveal dimpled cellulite areas.
Effects of Cellulite
Even though cellulite may not be deadly, we still need to look at the cause of cellulite and possible solutions. Cellulite is simply unsightly which makes it embarrassing. The worst thing about it is that it can actually get worse. No one deserves to suffer the indignity of having to go around with cellulite. Even if cellulite can't hurt a person physically, it can cause a lot of emotional pain. People with cellulite may be stared at and even criticized by others. This creates the need to constantly cover themselves even during warm seasons.
Cause of Cellulite
Cellulite is caused by excess fat cells taking up too much space in the skin's connective tissues. Because the skin cannot hold back all the fat, the fat spills over, creating the dimpled look. It is because of cellulite being referred to as fat that some think that the immediate cause of cellulite is overeating. This may not always be the case. Although many overweight people have cellulite, there are also healthy and fit individuals who develop cellulite.
Risk Factors
When it comes to cellulite, there are no absolute factors that can determine for sure who gets to have a severe case of cellulite. It is possible though that there may be some factors that increase the risk of cellulite development. An unhealthy diet and a predominantly sedentary lifestyle for example have been cited as possible contributory factors to the cause of cellulite. Of course, older people may have higher chances of developing cellulite because they have less firm skin, making cellulite more obvious.
Another thing to note is that women have higher chances of getting cellulite than men. Although some men also develop cellulite, theirs may be less obvious. This is because male skin tissues are arranged differently as females. The female honeycomb pattern of connective tissues makes it easier for fat to occupy.
Remember, it may not be entirely your fault if you have a cellulite condition. It can happen to anybody. It is your choice though if you want to continue living with the embarrassment of having celulite.
