Many sites offer you, the webmaster, a locate to place your projects to be bid on by freelancers. All of these sites let you contact offshore workers that live in countries where wages are only a cypher of what they are in the more industrialized nations. This allows you to keep your send budget low and spend money by keeping your full-time staff small.
So, how crapper you find this ?diamond in the rough?? You know, that reliable individual who delivers calibre impact on time and within agreed upon budget? There is no simple answer. The best you crapper do is using the tools provided by the worker website to essay and minimize your risk.
Unfortunately, most of the existing worker websites use a very poor rating grouping that only allows a webmaster to rate a freelancer on a bit from 1-10. This grouping doesn't verify some of the more essential variables into account, much as the complexity of the project.
The complexity of a send is important. A freelancer doing many simple and inexpensive jobs may have an superior rating and do very beatific impact for that category of project. But, there is no indorse they crapper handle a more Byzantine project. Since the more Byzantine projects outlay more to get done, at least one worker website has developed a rating grouping that takes complexity into consideration by using the dollar turn of the send as part of the rating formula to wage the webmaster with additional information. Thereby, hoping to make the webmaster's decision a little easier.
Here are a couple of additional suggestions for hiring a freelancer:
Do Not Post a Budget !!!
?Why not?? you ask. If you place a budget, most freelancers module bid based on the budget amount. Unfortunately, a commonsensible outlay in one part of the world is insanely high or preposterously low in another part of the world.
For example, you want someone to create a logo for you. Any decent realistic artist should be healthy to do that. So, it probably is safe to go with the lowest bidder. But, suppose you need a sales letter written for an Australian audience, do you really think someone is Eastern aggregation or China module be healthy to do as beatific a job as a native Australian? Probably not, but, the outlay of experience is a lot higher in Australia and that individual would need to charge more for the aforementioned turn of work.
Do Not Hire Outside of Your Expertise.
But, you say, ?If I was an expert, I wouldn't need to hire someone else!? While that may be true, you do need to be sufficiently old with the area of impact to be healthy to accurately describe the project, to undergo what and isn't technically possible and undergo whether the bids you obtain are commonsensible for the turn of impact involved.
If Necessary, get advice from someone who does undergo the area of work. Most sites wage a message board for you to discuss with the bidders anonymously before you select one of them for the project. Pay careful tending the freelancer's reaction to the project. The saint politician is one who loves his work. Ask them to describe similar projects they have done in the past or to wage samples of their impact if feasible. Graphic artists, web designers and writers module be healthy to wage samples. Programmers and some others may not be healthy to wage samples but they may be healthy to wage references if they haven't already been rated by other webmasters.
Following the steps above and keeping the lines of communication open module dramatically increase your chances of having a successful experience with your chosen freelancer. It crapper spend you both time and money as substantially as support you manage your business in the most effective manner. After all, you grappling every of the aforementioned challenges in dealing with freelancers as you grappling in dealing with some employee, plus the additional challenges created by being in different geographic locations.
It's amazing how many people out there are a jack-of-all-trades. I was speaking to someone the other day about their business, and we entered the domain of websites and how to build a successful site. They confidently stated that a 'friend of theirs' will help them put their business online as they preferred to go the cheap option at this stage, and that there friend was very talented on the computer. I expect to hear from them in a few months.
Why? Since when was web design so easy that anyone can do it? Why are some people paying tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop their site and others think they can get away with developing a site for a hundred dollars and get similar results? I'll guarantee you that the major companies who invest time and money into the web are not stupid.
I can usually tell who has a very good chance of making their website a success. They understand that their website is a constant testing ground, trying new headlines, offers and articles, helping their clients to achieve business goals. Or maybe its an internal website designed to manage members of the organization and the information flow between them. Point being, they know why they've built it, who's using it and how they can make it better.
So that is the first key to selecting a Successful Web Design Company ? do they understand that your website is designed to meet the objectives of your business and your clients. Do they understand its not just a promotion tool for the front page of their website. You see, I have worked with many designers, and they do get very particular about their design. Change it and all hell breaks loose. But in the world of the internet, we can measure to the nth degree whether the design is successful and this means the first design may need tweaking, or god forbid a complete work-over. You must have a web design company who can assist with your testing, and suggest practical changes that will assist your business.
One other pre-requisite to finding the right Web Design Company is obviously their portfolio. Do they have a list of websites that they have worked on across a range of industries. Can they adapt to your business and build a site that communicates your brand. I must stress here though, it is easy for all of us to get swept away by fantastic design, even though the website itself might be doing nothing for the business itself. That is why testing and flexibility is so important to your business.
Now, I could go into the technical details of what else is absolutely essential when building a website, but that is for another time. In future articles I'll build for you a checklist of what you need to know to find the perfect web design company for you.
