Formula One, popularly known as F1, is the name given to the popular motor sports, conducted throughout the world. The F1 race was introduced by the Federation Internationale de l? Automobile (FIA). The F1 world championship is conducted as a series of open-wheeled car races under the name Grand Pix. The winners of the Grand Pix from different countries later participate in an annual World Championship. The World Championships are conducted for two titles, one for the Formula One World Drivers? Championships and the other for the Formula One World Constructors? Championship.

Currently the championship is held at Silverstone in Northamptonshire. Silverstone also crowns the title of hosting the championship every year since its inception in 1950, when the first race of the official World Championship was begun.

The Silverstone tracks offered great challenges to the F1 drivers; there was huge pressure from the betting clubs as well as the police. Thus, it produced the best-ever drivers in the F1 Formula racing, including Keke Roseburg, the 1982 World Champion, John Watson, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill and David Coulthard.

The terms race and the World Championship race are often interpreted as the same. Since 1950, the World Championship has been conducted as per the rules and regulations of F1 race. Also, all F1 races were counted towards the World Championship.
The name suggests a set of rules, which each team of the race has to follow. The Formula One Grand Prix consists of two practice sessions, one on Friday and another on Saturday. Following this, there will be a qualifying session. The qualifying session was innovated using the ?one shot? system in the year 2003 where every driver gets a chance to take on an empty track and show his skills. Another important qualifying system was introduced in 2006 in the form of a knockout qualifying system, and was continued in 2007 too.
Lewis Hamilton is the centre of attraction in the running season. He has won the opening round in Melbourne. Although he failed to finish his podium in Malaysia and Baharain, he hopes for the Spanish Grand Pix that is going to be held a few days later.
