[F582]Free Background Check People
by Robert Boughner, Rob
The importance of background screening to business is undeniable. Many businesses have made this a standard procedure in their employment processes.

Generally, there is no law against employers checking on the background of a potential employee. Background checks gives anyone access to public documents such as criminal records to employment and educational histories. Some background check services require a certain fee while some even offer their services for free. However, there is always that concern for the right of privacy which every citizen in the country is entitled to.

This growing concern has led to a debate in the University of Texas where important issues regarding background checks were discussed. Aside from issues on privacy, there is also the question of how far should we make use of background check results. A certain irrelevant record on an applicant cannot be used as basis for the dismissal of an application. And yet, businesses must be extra vigilant since they are the ones held liable for any workplace violence that may happen due to ?negligent hiring?.

In the midst of these growing concerns, the government has already made a move regarding these issues by implementing several laws that will protect both parties.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act or FCRA requires business owners to ask a written consent from their employees or applicants before doing any background check. Employers who dismiss applicants or employees due to certain information revealed by the search should disclose the result and provide documents to the applicant/ employee. In this way, individuals are given the chance to contest to such actions. Aside from that, many state laws also give additional protection to the privacy of these records. Some states restrict the use of irrelevant information as a basis for hiring such as arrest records and minor convictions.

Every business owner and employer needs to hire someone who is not only dependable, but more importantly trustworthy and credible. How will you know if the person you want to hire has these qualities? Will you know for sure after you've interviewed them or read their resume? Of course not! An applicant's resume will only tell you so much, and an interview is also not enough to asses a person's credibility because some people know the right thing to say in interviews. As such, it is really important to conduct a background check on your potential employees. This will ensure that you get the right person not just in terms of mental or physical capabilities, but also in terms of their trustworthiness.

Nowadays, a lot of institutions are already doing background checking as a part of the pre-employment process. Some of these institutions include financial companies, day-care facilities, law-enforcement sectors, and many more. They do this to ensure that they are hiring the right people. Background checks also lessen the possibilities of having ill-fated incidents in the workplace such as theft, fraud, money-laundering, terrorism, and others.

Background check can also let you know simple details about the personality of an individual, including important attributes like integrity. Whether you are simply finding out if the person you want to hire has key values to be a good employee, or you want to make sure he or she does not have a criminal past, conducting a background check will help you uncover what you want to know. So be a wise employer and make background check part of your pre-employment requirement.

Do Not Let a Criminal Run Your Company

Would you entrust your company and assets that you've worked hard to build to a criminal? You might be quick to say no, but are you taking necessary steps to make sure that you are putting your company in the hands of good people? There are a lot of employers who take background checking for granted, and most of them have suffered the consequences. Its not a secret that there are people who seem to be normal on the outside but are actually mentally ill. These people often become the criminals who make people around them believe that they are harmless, and carry out their evil plan once they've convinced everyone that they can be trusted.

There are even some who do everything to get the top positions in the company, only to sabotage it later on. To avoid employing these types of people, it is highly advisable to know everything you can about an applicant even before he or she comes on board. By doing a background investigation on a potential employee, you will be able to know then person's past and whether it is a positive or negative one. If that person had a criminal inclination in the past or had integrity issues, you will find this out through background check. You will also discover whether the applicant gave you genuine information or if he or she falsified data just to enter your company. Backgrounds investigation truly helps a company or a person hire the right person for the job they want to entrust. And although having someone investigated can cost a considerable amount of money, the investment will be well worth it if you know that you are getting someone who will be a great contribution to your firm.

Please bear in mind that the person you will be doing a background check on needs to be aware of it. You have to be mindful of existing privacy laws and by informing them that you will be conducting a background check, you are putting yourself on the safe zone. If they gave you consent to conduct an investigation on them, you will not be invading their privacy. Remember that like you, your employees and potential staff also have rights that need to be respected.
