[F532]Forever Young Forever Young
by Pradeep Aggarwal, Pra
The levels of consciousness range from being fully alert to being deeply asleep. They are mainly distinguished from each other by their brain wave frequency. It is also important to note that there are no rigid boundaries separating them. Instead, the levels blend into each other, as is described below:

LevelState of mind and body

BetaFull Consciousness (13-25 Cycles per second)
AlphaTwilight period between being asleep & being awake Hypnosis & Meditation (8-12 Cycles per second)
ThetaDeep hypnosis & Meditation (4-7 Cycles per second)
DeltaFull Sleep (0.5-3 Cycles per second)

Beta is the state of total consciousness-the normal state. Alpha and Theta fall into the category of altered states of consciousness.

These are the states when behavior modifications are most likely to take place. Suggestions given in these states go directly into the subconscious mind without any interference from the analytical conscious mind. The subconscious has no power of reasoning and will accept the suggestions as they are, and will act upon them.
So, where does Hypnosis fit in all this?

Hypnosis is one of the most effective tools to induce an altered state of consciousness. Suggestions can also be effective under normal consciousness (Beta level) but research has shown that they are over a hundred times more helpful under an altered state.

What are the other benefits of Hypnosis?

Almost 80% of physical and psychological problems are stress related. And, since relaxation forms the core of all hypnotic procedures, it enables us to exclude anxiety and tension from our normal thought cycles.

How does hypnosis compare with meditation & yoga?

All these processes involve physical relaxation and a narrowing of consciousness. In the case of Hypnosis, it is task or goal oriented, as we are mentally working on something (our desired goal). In meditation and yoga, on the other hand, consciousness is free-floating and it may lead to a greater sense of expanded awareness. Many mediators use hypnosis and one can slip from one state to another quite easily.

Easily among those things which appeals strongly to several men is the image of the Japanese girl due to anime. Not everyone just go for the look but a great proportion of the population has found interest in it, however. For some strange reason known only to the Japanese themselves, and to a certain extent to the Chinese and Koreans as well, the women in that part of the world never seem to age properly. That is attributed to the Japanese skin care secrets where even a woman in her mid-forties appears very much like a woman who is only in her early or mid-twenties. Observers are even more astonished to find that here that plastic surgery and expensive cosmetics does not involve much in Japanese skin care and beauty maintenance. One wonders how the Japanese manage to keep
Even the middle-aged woman look like teenagers?

Most analysts would like to point out that Japanese skin care and beauty maintenance is remarkably different from other areas. Closer inspection reveals a number of similarities and parallels to Chinese beauty secrets (because just about anything in Japanese culture has some sort of loose parallel to Chinese culture somewhere), but the differences still stand out. Most reputable authorities point out that it is likely that the standard Japanese diet forms the core of their ancient secrets.

Even with the arrival and success of big chains such as KFC and McDonald's, traditional food still makes up the bulk of the average meal. Most Japanese, in a recent survey, revealed that the occasional ?Big Mac? was good for a treat, but bowls of ramen or a few rounds of sushi were still preferred as regular meals. The diet, on most levels is much simpler and, culturally, great emphasis is placed on preparing food such that it retains as much of its natural state as possible. This usually translates to less chemicals being used in the cooking process, which is something Western diets have large quantities of.
Reports also indicate that Japanese skin care regimens tend to use a wide variety of natural herbs, rather than relying on chemical treatments. There are numerous herbs that naturally occur in Japan that help fight off the negative effects caused by the various adverse weather conditions that the skin has to endure. They also help fight off all the pollutants and skin irritants that fly around, thanks to the highly industrialized nature of the country's urban infrastructure.

Cosmetics in Japan also lend to the apparent ease that women who employ Japanese skin care techniques enjoy. Chemically speaking, Japanese cosmetics are much ?lighter? than their Western counterparts. Most Japanese-made cosmetics rely more on essential oils and components derived from herbal treatments than anything else, with some products having firm basis in food. They also do away with some potentially damaging chemicals by insisting that everything be free of any scent. It is a poorly recognized fact that adding scent to make-up can sometimes cause problems in long-term skin care. The focus on natural products and compatibility with even the most sensitive skin conditions is often combined with products that have a stimulating effect on the skin, making it appear more vibrant and young.

As already mentioned, beauty secrets of the Chinese and Japanese are definitely similar to one another in principle but not in procedures. However, the Chinese and Japanese cultures have maintained their skin care and beauty management secrets in order to keep their people looking as fresh and young as possible for a long, long time. In that sense, both sides have succeeded but factors in the Japanese diet seem to have given the Japanese the edge in terms of maintaining that ?porcelain doll look? much longer than their Chinese counterparts.
