While others may just be tired of their boss or from taking orders or have been made redundant. When starting your own business there are many pitfalls to look out for. It is in fact very common for talented and intelligent people to have so much faith in their knowledge in a specific field, that they begin to neglect the more basic requirements for running a successful businesses.
For many as their businesses is failing they endeavour to try new tactics and techniques to advertise their business or decide to take up loans on their house just to keep going for one more month.
On the other hand of course there are the success stories, those that took a great idea or maybe just a new angle and turned it into a million pound venture and suddenly found themselves among the new rich generation. On the whole, it takes a lot of work and determination to succeed in businesses no matter what field or market. There are some fundamental key points which should be given careful consideration when starting your own business
1)Frugal Living.
This can not be stressed enough, do not expect to start a businesses and expect a fast return. It simply doesn't work that way. Even if you were to discover the proverbial new light bulb, that is only half the battle won. Next comes patenting, to defend copyright as well as production if your new business is a material object and advertising campaigns which are directed at your target audience. Not to mention financing, which isn't exactly easy to come by these days. That is why it is generally recommended to always have at least 6 months personal expenses in saving before opening your own businesses.
2)Get your experience somewhere else first.
If you are going to learn any business there are two ways: the cheap way or the expensive way. The expensive way includes putting all your savings into your business with little practical experience and the learning on the job. That is going to be expensive lessons. The cheap way is to “apprentice” at a master of your field first. Most successful people in this world attribute part of their success to having a mentor.
3)Consider Outsourcing.
If you are delivering a product that can be replicated somewhere else, then you should consider outsourcing. Getting your product made overseas can save you a lot of money. However, you will need to considered transportation costs and delivery methods.
4)Test the market.
Before even opening an business you should at least have some idea of the profitability of your niche area. Spend time doing research to ensure your product or service is something that is wanted or needed by consumers before you can reap the profits and be successful.
5) Spread the word -Advertising.
Talk to as many people as you can before starting up. Get their opinion and advice and listen to stories. Devise a marketing strategy which can begin with the least cost effective methods such as having business cards printed and handing them out to as many people as possible.
