Marathon running is ideal for people visiting foreign countries because it lets them enjoy the scenery and meet locals at the same time. Strength training is an important part of any marathon running training program. Your mental attitude is crucial for marathon running, if you can cope with the stress of HITTING THE WALL, this is the fatigue that you feel during the second half of the race, you are more likely to endure the race and run to your full potential.

Marathon Strength Training

A proper marathon strength training program will help you avoid injury, improve your running economy and form, increase your speed and help you gain running power. The marathon runner needs to have a large proportion of slow twitch fibres in their muscles. Some people are better adapted to marathon running than others.

With a marathon as your ultimate goal, you can begin by "training through" (that's running lingo) these smaller runs. I have my bad days a nd days when I feel like I could run all day, but one thing I can tell you is that while you may be able to finish a marathon with just 2 weeks training, it would be foolish.
