[H103]Have A Happy Marriage
by Saleem Rana, Sal
Remember that first date? How long ago was it? I know you can remember'go back there now. I want you to remember something?the butterflies in your stomach, the magic, the awkwardness, and that rush of anticipation.

Did you get nervous? Did you preen yourself before the mirror for hours before the appointed time? Did your heart beat faster when you first saw him or her coming through the restaurant door or sitting at a table waiting for you as you rushed in late.

Why were you nervous?

Isn't it because that meeting was special? You wanted everything to turn out right. You wanted to be right for the other person. You anticipated a magical future.

What happened before that date? What kind of person were you? What kind of person did you want to meet? And how did you feel when you first saw him or her?

Now plunge right into the moments of that first date. Do you remember how he or she looked at you? Do you remember exchanging meaningful glances? Do you remember the smile, the motion of the hand, and the tilt of the head? What did you talk about on that first date? How did you feel?

What happened after the date? Where did you go? What did you do?

Can you recall that burst of happiness? When did it occur?

Do you remember the silences, the jokes, the special music, and the magical places?

How long did your romance last?

How do you feel right now? Is the magic still there? Has it faded away?

If you're like me, you want the magic to make a come-back.

Now, it's time to do something special. Ask your spouse out on a date. And during your date, ask him or her the questions that you've just finished answering. See if something magical might happen again.

But, do you know that those numbers are not significant? No matter how long or short the age of your marriage is, problems will always be there. Those having been married for fifteen years or more can be trapped into any troubles.

So, both spouses need to put all their effort to make the marriage work. It can't be just the wife or the husband. It takes two to tango.

What to do then?

•Communication

The most crucial thing in a marriage is communication. If it doesn't go well, consider your marriage over. A good communication is the key to a happy marriage. With it you can express your thoughts and feelings to each other. It helps you both create an understanding towards each other. If you have problems, talk about them openly.

•Commit

Make sure that both of you are committed to make the marriage work. This has to be one of the most important things to consider before you say ‘I do.' And, later, during the years, you should restore your commitment to keep it fresh.

•Respect Each other

In any relationship, either it's friendship or others, it is important to have respect towards each other.

•Love and love

When you decided to get married, you had so much love for your partner. Keep it alive by memorizing all your beautiful moments together.

•Romance

Who says that married couple cannot date? Of course they can. And, they have to, if they want to have a successful marriage and avoid the most frightening word, ‘divorce.'

Don't ever wish for a perfect marriage. Nothing is perfect in this world. The most important thing is that both you and your spouse are willing to have a happy marriage. Happiness is enough. Happiness is all you need.
