Is there a holy grail of wellbeing? Definitely. In truth, wellbeing could be defined in a number of ways depending on your viewpoint. What is clear though is that some extremely important factors go into the mix when you consider the complete wellbeing picture. Having a special someone to cherish, having a purpose, and looking forward to doing it, all help to achieve a good state of wellbeing. Even better, is to live with the certainty that you’re loved, and that you have someone plan something nice for you, and then look forward to doing it together. This will only multiply your state of contentment, happiness and wellbeing. The factors that go into the everyday wellbeing melting pot need not be radical; but they do need to be there at all. Someone to love may be a friend, a lover or a pet, Your something to do may be a a day at the races, and your someone to do it with may be a cousin, but have them all and put them all into the mix and you you‘re on your way to the holy grail of wellbeing: contented and happy. Another necessary ingredient in the everyday wellbeing definition is high self-esteem. High self-esteem is a very achievable goal that we are all very capable of developing, and with the right coaching, can be achieved within a very short timeframe. Having a healthy regard of our own self worth is vital in the pursuit of high self esteem. Knowing that we have a positive and confident demeanour and confidence in our own abilities only adds to our self worth. A sure fire way to having high self-esteem is to develop a very positive opinion of yourself
Shout up if you‘ve heard this before, I’ll run through this quickly because I don‘t want to lose you on this: Drag yourself out of bed, wake up the children, get the kids washed and dressed, sort out breakfast, sort out lunches, encourage the use of hats, coats and shoes, herd them into the car, drop them off at school… and then make your way to work. After work, you collect the children, sort out homework, make dinner, adopt the role of entertainer or taxi driver, pack them off them to bed, collapse in the armchair, eventually head off to bed yourself, get some sleep. Get up… start the process all over again. The tragedy of the routine described above is that it’s less of a cliché than you might think. Somewhere in that routine is a frighteningly accurate description of me... and it wasn’t that long ago. The lifestyle I once had, allowed absolutely no time for me, or me time to be specific. I’m not being selfish at all when I say that not just me, but everyone needs time for themselves. If you don’t, you’ll not only lose your identity, but you’ll actually lose the respect of those around you. My life was a constant merry-go-round. Sure, my better half chipped in, but if I entertained any thought of putting myself first, it was very quickly replaced by the next immediate task in a very full and hectic schedule that revolved around everyone but me. My light bulb moment came out of the blue. My blinkers were lifted by an unexpected gift from a friend of mine. The gift was a facial massage and a manicure. My friend knew only too well that there was no way I would do this for myself, it was just too much of an indulgence at least as I understood it then. And besides, even if the idea ever entered my head, I was never going to put a hold on my routine and do something just for me. Well thankfully my friend made my gift specific to me and made sure that it could only be enjoyed by me, and I‘ll be forever in her debt. Having reluctantly accepted her gift, I had no idea of the lasting effects it would have. If nobody had made me aware, I would never have been exposed to the benefits that massage and massage therapy can and doe bring to milliond of people around the globe. In terms of the range of benefits that massage therapy brings , they can be as basic as feeling a darn site better (special) for a moment in time to transforming your life for the better, for as long or as little as you want. Without sounding too dramatic, massage therapy can be and often is life changing for anyone experiencing it for the first time. Just because massage and massage therapy sounds like a luxury and an indulgence, doesn’t mean it is, in fact the opposite is true. Massage and massage therapy should be an integral element in your health and wellness plan. It can have a fundamental impact on the quality of your life, and in no way should it be considered a luxury, and it is certainly not the preserve of the wealthy. Having the awareness that you need to regularly schedule time for your health and wellness alongside your everyday routine may be an awkward concept, but please consider this as an idea that you must develop. This isn‘t a nice to do, it‘s an essential. Maybe you’re the person I described above, and you just can’t see the wood for the trees because you just aren’t aware that there’s a different way. Who knows, maybe one of your friends will give you the same wonderful gift that I received and you could be on your way to a whole new you. Who knows. In truth, if you’re reading this right now, you don’t need any further prompt. My message is crystal clear: Book some time for your own health and wellbeing as a matter of the utmost urgency. You are that important Start small, start big, but just start, the possibilities are endless you owe it to yourself and those who depend on you. To your continued, outstanding health.
