[G360]Golf Holidays In Portugal
by Jamie Hanson, Jam
Here are some of the best golf courses available which can make any golfer's holiday a true joy.

- Great Greens in Sunny Algarve: The Great Greens in Algarve has a total of four excellent 18-hole courses. These courses are included as part of the top 25 golf courses in all of Europe. The 4 courses offer a total of 72 holes that are a major challenge for even the best of golfers. All of these courses boast immaculate greens. Out of the four, the one considered to be the best is Quinta do Lago South.

- Vilamoura Old Course: This golf course is located just 20 minutes away from Faro International Airport. This par 73, 18-hole golf course offers a large variety of holes, which also include steep graded rocks along with cork and pine trees. It is truly one of the best courses in Europe. Also included are expected facilities such as a putting green and a driving range.

- Vale do Lobo: This is the biggest luxury beach and golf resort in the entire country. The resort contains a total of three courses - the two par 72 courses are The Royal and the Ocean which are complimented by the San Lorenzo golf course which is rated as one of the top ten golf courses in Europe. The course is very popular and you can get a free round if you stay at the 5-star Dona Filipa hotel which owns the course.

- Vale da Pinta: The Vale da Pinta is one of the most famous golf courses in the Algarve region. It is a par 72, 18-hole golf course and was designed with the idea of retaining the surrounding natural valleys and hills. The course offers bunkers and deep greens which pass through almond, old olive and fig orchards.

- Oitavos Golf Club: This is one of the best golf courses on the Lisbon coast. This club hosted the Portuguese Open in past tournaments and is still in pristine natural condition to this day. The club's course has coastal scenery with some interesting holes that are lined with shrubs, umbrella pines, and dunes. It also has two consecutive par 5s on its front nine holes and two par 3s on its back. These two holes probably make this course Europe's toughest 18-hole course.

- The Madeira Islands: These islands offer three major golf courses. Out of the three, the Palheiro, a 72 par, 18-hole course, is recommended for its challenging greens. It is situated on volcanic hills surrounded by valleys, peaks, and a pine forest.

Without a doubt, and even unexpectedly, Portugal is a true golfer's vacation destination. Although not as well known as other high profile golfing locales, Portugal does have a lot of terrific golf courses and resorts ready to be explored and enjoyed by all.

Many of the luxury hotels in Mauritius have their own golf courses, Paradis hotel being one of these. There is a choice of three international golf courses and thanks to agreements you can enjoy all three courses which offer different challenges. For beginners or for those that want to brush up on their game Paradis golf course offers twice weekly group lessons and a weekly friendly competition giving you the perfect opportunity to meet fellow golfers.

The south west region of the island is ideal for golf and during your game you will move from scenic contrasts from vistas of lush vegetation to ocean views from the Paradis Golf Club. The 5,899 meter golf course is situated between Le Morne Mountain and a beautiful lagoon. Not content with the magnificent Paradis Golf Course golfers can also play at Tamarina Golf Estate & Beach Club and Golf Du Chateau golf course. The Tamarina 6,800 meter, Par 72 golf course was designed by ?Wright Golf Design?. It is the first exclusive golf estate in Mauritius and the course offers a challenge to all. Designed with an African influence the course overlooks the mountains and is set in a stunning location as a backdrop.

The Gold Du Chateau just 20 minutes drive south of Dinarobin has an authentic colonial feel to it and has its own mansion surrounded by mountain ranges, amidst the sugar cane fields. Located on the southern coast it is a grand total of 6,498 meters and a par 72 course. At both the Tamarina golf estate and the Golf Du Chateau guests can enjoy discounted green fees, preferred tee times and VIP status.

The first tee box of the David Dutton designed Paradis golf course is a short ride from the Dinarobin, and the course itself directly runs behind some of the hotel suites and along the coast by the fantastic Le Morne Mountain. This gives you the unique opportunity to play on a course over the Indian Ocean, quite an experience! The course is slightly smaller than the Tamarina golf course and the Golf Du Chateau at 5899m par 72.

All three courses have challenges to offer the low and high handicap golfer. The Paradis Golf Academy is a must if you are looking to improve your swing, win a championship or simply just to lower your handicap. There are two full time Pros who are on hand to give you private lessons and collective lessons are provided free of charge twice a week. And for that extra edge sophisticated software including video swing analysis will help identify the weaknesses in your game and help you get on top of your game.

A selection of luxury hotels in Mauritius offer golf packages. Dinarobin offers great value 5 day golf packages (at Paradis Golf Course) with unlimited green fees, unlimited practice balls, 2 complimentary golf clinics, a golf buggy, complimentary golf club hire and 1 golf massage for the duration. Couples golf packages are also available.
