[G334]Going Through Airport Security
by B. Rivers, B.
If you have traveled by plane, you are in a better position to identify with the nagging and temper tempting feeling when the airline you are using engages in its airline security checkup as required and regulated by the aviation security. The strictest thing while traveling by plane today is airport screening. What most people dont understand is the fact that when the airline staff screen their bags and search their bodies, it is for the passengers safety hence passengers should observe utmost patience.
Going through airport security is mandatory therefore one should be enlightened on the screening process. By enlightening oneself with the airline security process, it will enhance the aviation security procedure by making the process faster and easier to both the screener and the screened. Similarly, it will start ones journey on a smoother note unlike when one starts a journey high tempered.
Since we cannot do anything to bypass every step of the screening process, we should just educate ourselves with how it is done. If we do this, we will make the process easier and our trip will begin rather smoothly. One of the first things that you need to do is to learn the rules and screening process of the airline at which we will catch your flight.
Mandatory things to carry include valid travel documents. On the other hand, if one violates the rules by carrying the forbidden things, the airline is mandated by the aviation security to confiscate the things without prior notice and worse of all, violation of the rules may lead to one missing the much awaited and planned flight. These are few of the many things aforementioned in the airports website on the passenger guide, which tend to slow down the screening process.
Likewise, be prepared psychologically for the screening process which may include emptying all bags and pockets or passing through sophisticated state-of-the-art detecting equipments such as metal detectors. The detectors are exclusively meant to display all metallic products on board and particularly those posing as a threat to security of the general public. Patience and cooperation is therefore called for during this process.
A strong possibility is to loose the seat on your scheduled flight. In relation to the things we cannot bring, we must remember to bring all documents needed to board the plane. Aside from knowing what things to pack, we should also follow rules on airport parking when we get to the airport.
Once we fall in line to go through the screening, we must prepare to empty our pockets or bags. We will be asked to go though metal detectors and other state-of-the-art equipment. These might show that we are carrying something that is potentially dangerous.
As this time you may need to show your identification again; however, it isnt always necessary. Most travelers are easily able to board their airplane, but you may be pulled aside in the event that you are acting suspicious or drawing unwanted attention to yourself. That is why it is best that you stay calm during all airport checkpoints, including the final boarding stage.

Recent airport security regulations may require you to turn on and boot up your computer at a security checkpoint to show that it functions normally. Think how long that usually takes, imagine the delay you might cause, and then consider this alternative.

Before you head to the airport, turn on your laptop, check the battery power reading to be sure that it's at least half charged, then, instead of turning it off, put it in "suspend" mode (Windows) or "sleep" mode (Mac). Close your laptop, put it in a less-than-obviously-a-computer travel bag, and head to the airport.

Now, when security asks to look at your computer, it will only take a few seconds to power up. After the usually brief check, you can shut down fully with almost no perceptible battery loss.

If you want to use the computer on the flight, stay in the "suspend" or "sleep" mode after the inspection, and you'll be ready to go again when you're cleared to use electronic equipment by the flight staff.

The Transporatation Security Administration recommends that you tape a business card or other identifying card on the bottom of your laptop to assure that you walk out of the security checkpoint with your own computer -- and no one else does
