The Slaves were not able to create their own hymns and had to do that with their masters in such condition. But it could not stop them. They organized the secret meetings and together they created their own worship hymns. Gospel music came into picture now. Gospel music was undergone through social changes in United States during 1900 to 1930. In this time the gospel was spreading around the country from the south with black African Americans. After this time some noted people who are given credits for the success of the gospel music were came into picture. The first is Thomas A. Dorsy (1899-1993). He was a composer of such standards as ?There Will Be Pease in the Valley?. He is considered as ?Father of Gospel Music? by many gospel devotees. He was also consummate musician and as a young man accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time-specially, Bessie Smith (1894-1937) and Ma Rainy (1886-1939). He also arranged and composed blues tunes. Dorsey was a planter. The fruits of that harvest were the exceptional singers who spread gospel around the country and indeed the world in the years that followed--Mahalia Jackson (1911-1972), Clara Ward(1924-1973) and James Cleveland(1931-1991) are but a few. Gospel music is still being more popular nowadays. Many gospel musicians are attempting to introduce the gospel music to the mainstream audience. There are many gospel musicians which play their instruments and worship god. They are true devotees of god. Gospel singers play a vital role in gospel music by singing the prayers to the god. The combination of Singers Musicians and playing musical instruments make the environment religious. Gospel music is such a great music all around the world.
