The new mattress Fire Resistant Code #1633 takes effect on July 1, 2007. How
this new law will effect the consumer and the mattress industry.
The new mattress FR Code 1633 was put in place to save lives. Serious fires
have resulted by mattresses, which within several minutes turn into an inferno.
The new Code now covers both the mattress and the box spring or foundation. Both
much be meet the new code or it can not be sold in the United States. This is a
universal code, and it covers all states.

Online consumers need to know, that each online retailer must have a FR Code
1633 matching foundation available for sale. If you own a platform bed or
adjustable bed, which only needs a mattress only, you can purchase it. However
you must agree that the mattress you are about to purchase will not be placed on
an old foundation, or a foundation which doesn't meet the new code. It is always
best to replace both the mattress and foundation.
