After twelve weeks, those who were given a green tea diet registered a drop of sixteen percent in their cholesterol levels.

It is considered green tea may also be a helpful therapy for obesity. Catechin polyphenols present in the tea may delay the response of gastric and pancreatic lipases in the body. The enzymes are responsible for changing calories in the body into fats. In delaying the enzymes, green tea can stop fat from being stocked up and help to prevent obesity occuring.

Be aware that green tea diets have certain amounts of caffeine that make it a mild appetite-restrainer. But, the caffeine contained in the tea is lower than that in some other beverages, containing caffeine like coffee. Consider that caffeine can be harmful to the body as too much may cause insomnia, heart palpitations, and hypertension. Green tea diets hold quite low quantities of caffeine, and so there is little danger of suffering such complications.
