[G527]Green Tea Extract Weight Loss
by Ricky Hussey, Ric
Is Green tea is good for weight loss?Yes, believe it or not, more and more often you'll find green tea (or green tea extract) included in the compilations of many of the more popular weight loss supplements today. Tea has been used as an aid for weight loss. Drinking a cup of tea with each meal is a protocol for using tea successfully as a metabolic stimulant. Tea by itself carries only 4 calories per serving, and it's most healthy when consumed with nothing added. The caffeine in tea increases body function to help burn more calories and the polyphenols seem to aid in the digestion of fat, truly making it a Chinese diet tea.Green tea is recommended for the diet aid mainly because of its multifaceted effects on health. The major active component that attributes the properties to the green tea are the polyphenols such as catechin, epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, gallaogatechin, epigallocatechin, and apigallocatechin gallate (known as EGCG).Green tea contains high concentrations of catechin polyphenols. These compounds work with other chemicals to intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis, where heat is created in the body by burning fuels such as fat. Drinking Japanese green tea regularly will increase your metabolism and help burn fat safely and naturally. In Thailand, India, Japan and China, green tea has been used as a medicine for a variety of conditions from helping with digestion to healing wounds. But while many in the medical field proclaim the wonders of this much talked about tea, others are quick to point out that there is little or no evidence to support at least some of the claims.Glucose RegulatorGreen tea also acts as a glucose regulator i.e. it slows the rise in blood sugar following a meal, by slowing the action of a particular digestive enzyme called amylase. This enzyme is pivotal in the breakdown of starches that can cause blood sugar levels to soar following a meal.Green tea contains Vitamin B, C and thiamine. This will ensure that our brain cells have sufficient energy to protect the nervous system from being over stimulated. A good nourished brain will surely help in achieving your weight loss goals. In November 1999, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published the results of a study at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, in which researchers found that men who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories than those given only caffeine or a placebo. The study conducted by the University of Geneva on the weight loss benefit of green tea extract implicated that green tea extract can also help thyroid patients. According to dietitian Lynn Moss, M.S., R.D., green tea extract is a healthier choice for people with thyroid who may be too sensitive to stimulants. Green tea extract can promote weight loss by increasing metabolism without over stimulating the adrenal glands. Bottom Line: Green tea helps you with weight loss by boosting your metabolic rate, regulating your blood sugar, suppressing your appetite and giving you something else besides that high calorie, high sugar coffee beverage to drink in the morning. While it's not the magic bullet, it can definitely give you a boost in weight loss and in your overall health

The desire to shed a few unwanted pounds is top of mind for many of us. However, weight loss is just plain hard. The thought of starting a diet is often accompanied by anticipation of hunger and strenuous exercise. This is all often overshadowed by a fear of failure. While the natural way to lose weight for the long-term requires commitment, the results are well worth the effort. The good news is that so many others have successfully dropped the extra pounds, and you can too. While this won't necessarily happen over night, you can make lasting changes. Aside from the very real health benefits of maintaining a reasonable weight, consider your quality of life. Whether rational or not, our physique often contributes to how we feel about ourselves. We all want to feel more energetic, have more confidence around the pool in a swimsuit, and enjoy intimate moments carefree.

Many already know that cutting back caloric intake, eating more natural foods, drinking plenty of water, and starting a basic exercise program are essential to success. However, part of the reason some become discouraged by a lack of initial progress is because real weight loss takes time. This brings us to the role of green tea extract in getting over these initial obstacles.

Asian cultures have enjoyed the benefits of green tea as a beverage for thousands of years. However, only recently have the benefits of green tea as a natural fat burner for weight loss been realized. Green Tea Extract contains a class of flavonoids called catechins. The prevalent catechin is EGCG or epigallocate-chin gallate. This substance, which makes up a significant portion of a green tea leaf, negates the effect of an enzyme that slows down the body's ability to burn fat. When we eat more than we use, the extra is stored as unwanted fat. Boosting the body's natural thermogenic process seems to decrease this body fat by improving our ability to utilize these calories. Another effect of increasing the body's metabolism is that we naturally feel less hungry. Green tea also contains caffeine, which has been shown to enhance metabolism, increases energy, and improve overall mood. This can go a long way toward helping to maintain the motivation essential to sticking with a weight loss program.

In addition to its effectiveness as a natural fat burner for weight loss, green tea is a powerful anti-carcinogenic that can help prevent prostate, lung, and breast cancer. Initially, this was supported by the fact that those in China and Japan have lower occurrences of some cancers. Now, proper studies reveal that EGCG plays an important role in ending the life of these cancer cells. Study participants who drank 8-10 cups of tea per day had a demonstrably lower rate of these cancers than those who only drank 2-3 cups per day.

As an antioxidant, green tea extract has properties that prevent the oxidation of harmful cholesterols. When too much LDL-cholesterol is oxidized, the eventual result is the blockage of arteries with plaque. In this role, green tea is particularly useful in the prevention of and recovery from heart disease.

Every body is different, and even though many others have used this supplement with success, your results may be different. That said, take care in choosing weight loss supplements and only try one at a time ? while allowing sufficient time to see results. That way, you'll be able to determine whether a natural fat burner or appetite suppressant is working for you. While supplements are effective, they cannot replace a healthy diet and regular exercise. It is now up to you. Take back control, and enjoy all the benefits of a new, active lifestyle.
