[H1658]How To Stop Ringing In Ears
by Jj Currie, Jj
After thinking the issue would "just go away", I finally gave in and went to the doctor to investigate my hearing difficulties. While sitting and waiting, I thought about it, and realized the delay was possibly a huge error. I really needed to sit down and speak with my doctor before the trouble became constant and very loud. Treatment probably could've been much simpler than I forced it to end up being.

I found out that I had punched a hole in my ear drum because I was cleaned my ears with a scraper. I used this because my earwax is not the moist kind and it is easy to get rid of it that way, as opposed to using cotton swabs. The doctor told me that using a scraper is really hazardous, since it is really easy to injure my ear drums using it.

That is exactly the situation I am in now. I punched a hole in my eardrum by cleaning my ears by using a scraper and reaching too far inside the ear with it. I heard a very soft ringing sound in my ears, which was the first sign something was wrong, but I just ignored it. I still continued to use the ear scraper and caused more injury to my eardrums. The ringing in my ears is stronger, too, since there is more injury in my ears.

This is a lesson learned for me, not to ignore any symptom which I may feel in the future because it can be a sign of an impending health problem. Early detection helps to solve the problem easily and in my case it could have prevented me from bringing more injury to my eardrums. If I could have consulted a physician the moment I started hearing that mild ringing in my ears, I could have stopped using an ear scraper and saved myself from having to experience tinnitus.

Ringing in the ears is a problem that many people are suffering from. There are many problems that could be responsible for the condition. Finding out the causes of the tinnitus is the first step toward finding a cure and some relief.
There are those that do not think that it is possible to cure tinnitus at all, but rather only help patients learn to live with the condition. There has been success with some treatments for some of the causes of the condition. Here we will look at some of the possible treatments that a sufferer of tinnitus can use to find relief for the incessant ringing in their ears.
If the cause of your tinnitus is overexposure to loud noises or trauma to the cochlear, there are some lifestyle changes that you can make that may help the condition. This type of tinnitus cause is responsible for more than ninety percent of all cases of ringing in the ears. Of course, the first thing that you should do is eliminating the noise or minimize its impact on your ears by wearing earplugs when you are in a situation with loud noises.
Medication
There has been some success with the use of anti depressants to cure tinnitus. This is usually true if the cause of the problem is stress related. For these sufferers, simply reducing the amount of stress through these medications is enough to cure the condition completely in some patients.
The problem with the drugs is that they may not cure every type of tinnitus. It is important to know what is causing the problem so that the solution can be tailored to it. Anti anxiety medications have been successful with those who are suffering from an anxiety and stress related cause to their hearing problem.
Masking
One of the most common treatments for tinnitus is masking the noise. Hearing aids have been used very effectively to amplify other noises and masking the ringing that is heard. The problem with this technique is that it will not cure the problem completely.
Milder cases of tinnitus can be successfully helped with behavioral methods for masking the condition. Patients can be trained to not hear the noise over time if they take the time to learn these techniques. Of course, you are not actually curing the condition, but if it helps you to live with it and not hear the noises anymore it is of great benefit.
Nutrition And Lifestyle
There are those that believe the cause of tinnitus can be related to an imbalance in nutrition. The people who follow this line of thinking believe that the tinnitus can be cured if the diet is as nutritionally balanced as possible. Of course, this is only the solution if the cause of the problem is not damage or another cause.
Visit with your doctor to determine if your tinnitus is caused by damage or other causes. The nutritional approaches may be tried if you have determined that there is no ear damage cause of your tinnitus. To get take the best approach to your diet, you should visit with a nutritionist to find out where your diet is lacking.
