[H1660]How To Stop Sweating Armpits
by Sean Tan, Sea
Sweating is a natural process in human beings and it has several physiologically useful functions for the body too. But when perspiration becomes excessive, that's when the problems begin. Excessive perspiration is socially unacceptable and the person who is a victim of this condition will find it very difficult to interact with people and will always harbor an inferior feeling about him- or herself.

It is quite understandable then why so many medical methods have been invented so that people can stop body odour. These methods do promise results, but not all of them promise long-term results and a common factor in all of them is that they are incredibly expensive methods. Moreover, these methods are not as cozy as you might think. Let us check out what these methods are:

1.Botox injections are probably the most popular methods nowadays. Botox is Botulinum Toxin, a substance that can be used to stretch the skin and remove age marks too. However, Botox injections tend to be painful for several days after they have been given. The area where the injection was applied may also become numb. But the sorest part is that you will need repeat injections after three to six months because the effects of the injections wear off quite soon.

2.There is a surgical method known as sympathectomy. The basic purpose of this method is to reduce the effect of the sympathetic nerves that are responsible for producing the sweatiness. But you must know what is actually done during this procedure. What will really happen is that the sympathetic nerves in the regions that sweat the most are destroyed. This stops the sweat from occurring. However, you can very well see that this is a very risky prevent stink of sweat technique because destroying any part of the body, for whatever reason, is the last thing one must do.

3.Lontophoresis is another method that is mainly used to prevent body odour from hands or feet. These parts of the body are put in water that is slightly electrocuted. Naturally, this is going to be highly inconvenient after some time. Moreover, this is a continuous form of treatment. You will need to get this treatment several times a week initially and then its frequency will dwindle down. There's nothing such as complete recovery with this method; it can go on for life, though the frequency will become much less after the initial few months. Due to the repeat treatments, it is also a very expensive procedure.

Perspiration (sometimes called sweating while others called it transpiration) is a process of the body that is truly beneficial for us. It actually regulates body temperature. But what if it becomes excessive? Well, that is a different story. If excessive sweating happens very frequently under normal conditions, then you might be suffering from hyperhidrosis. Don't panic, this is not deadly. However, it is very uncomfortable. Let me tell you why.

Certain parts of the body are affected by hyperhidrosis. This can be your hands (so it is called palmar hyperhidrosis) or you feet, your head or your face. If you have palmar hyperhidrosis, you might find it uneasy to shake other people's hand without wiping your wet hands first. Or sometimes, you might want to write hastily but will end up having a messy paper and hand because of those sweating palms. It is, therefore, NOT comfortable.

Another part which usually acts like a focal point, is your feet. Well, obviously, it is very uncomfortable. For example, if your feet sweats a lot and you are a woman who wants to wear high-heeled sandals, there may be times wherein you find it slippery to walk because of those wet feet. If you are a man, well, you might not want others to smell your feet because if you will wear shoes with socks, your smell might be something that might keep the people away. Sorry to say, but this can be the worst case scenario. Excessive facial sweating will also melt the makeup of women. This causes you to look really messy.

Lastly, let us discuss “head sweating”. This is something that might be solved easily. Head sweating, if it becomes very excessive, will cause those sweat to fall down your face. So, it could be that at the end of the day, your head and your face will be all wet. What could be the simple solution to this?

Don't jump into a decision of going through a surgery or whatever technological stuff to cure the problem. It is important that you will learn the cause. For example, if it runs in the family that everyone or someone have excessive head sweating, then there is no question that your problem is hereditary. Also, if you have a health problem like you have a thyroid problem, then it can cause hyperhidrosis. Thus, just eat good food rich in iodine and you can really solve it. If you know that you are obese, then your excessive head sweating can be caused by this. So, have a balanced diet and reduce your weight.

Along these simple solutions, you must have proper hygiene. Take a bath everyday. It is not enough that you wet your body and put a little soap all over your body. Don't forget to shampoo your hair. This is important to prevent that smelly hair once your head sweats a lot. Also, don't ever wear a hat. It will just keep your head warm and so your sweat glands will produce much sweat. Lastly, drink a lot of water to replace lost liquid.
