[H1686]How To Throw Baby Shower
by Marc Lindsay, Mar
To plan and run a successful baby shower you will need to select a theme that will please the parents to be. Firstly a baby shower is not just a party. It's for memories for many years to come; it's great sentimental value and should be planed with love and care.

You can begin your theme search by going to the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL. Try searching for "baby shower themes," "baby shower theme ideas," and so forth. From the search results you might find a website with themes that you like. Some websites also offer free advice and tips on planing your baby shower so that's always a bonus.

After you do your basic research you'll find themes that you like and make sure you book mark the websites for future references. If you're planning it for someone else you should always consult the parent to be for their opinion.

Ask the expecting mother these few questions to help her decide on an appropriate theme:

&bullAre you expecting a boy or girl? Twins, Triplets, More?
&bullWill you be inviting kids to the shower?
&bullWhat is your budget roughly?
&bullDo you know roughly how many people you want to invite?
&bullAre any of your guests out of town or country?
&bullWhat type of themes do you like?
&bullIs there going to be a co-host?
&bullWould you like to invite your husband and other guys to the shower?

To be even more creative you can ask the mom to be more questions. It will soon bring out exactly what she wants in her shower and hopefully a better idea on a theme.

When inviting the new father and his male friends to your party make sure you select a theme that suites them as well. For example a BBQ in the backyard with beers would go down nicely. And for indoors you can select a theme suited towards the mother and her female friends.

In conclusion when selecting the perfect theme, make sure you do all your research on all the possible themes and narrow them down based on the mother, male guest and things they people will like. Good luck with your baby showers and I hope it is a successful one!

If you decide to go the ready-made route, it makes your job fairly easy. Many before you have simply used what I like to refer to as the ‘Oh, that's so adorable' method when choosing a theme, for the upcoming shower.

Honestly, the growing popularity of online baby shower related websites, makes this method even easier. Grab a cup of coffee and your comfy slippers. Type the phrase ‘choosing a baby shower theme' into your favorite search engine and let the shopping begin!

You can choose from classic themes like Noah's Ark, teddy bears, nursery rhymes and little yellow duckies. On the other hand, you may decide to choose a more updated theme such as modern moms, Sesame Street, two peas in a pod or Disney Babies.

Should your creativity get the best of you and entice you into creating a theme of your own, the sky is the limit. Use your imagination; you just might be surprised at the results. There are so many different themes to choose from that you might end up storing some ideas for any future showers or even for your future babies.

Do you plan on naming your baby after a color? Examples of this are Gray, Violet and Sage. If this is the case, you can easily incorporate that specific hue into the decorations.

Almost everyone loves ice cream. Take advantage of this and plan a Pickles and Ice Cream shower. Serve an ice cream cake, decorated with baby gherkins made of frosting. Provide ice cream, on the side … along with a variety of toppings. Send each guest home with a nifty ice cream scoop, to mark the occasion. Make the event more festive, by making homemade ice cream. It's a great way to get all guests involved – both young and old will appreciate a little ice cream!

If you are planning a baby shower, for a friend or family member, consider throwing a ‘diaper and formula' themed party. Include a note in each invitation asking guests to consider purchasing a bag of diapers (any size) or a gift card that can be redeemed for the intended brand of formula, once the baby arrives.

This particular idea works well for guests who don't like to shop. It's won't take much effort for them to buy formula and diapers.

Make them aware that they still have the option of giving the alternative gift, of their choice. Many times, given the choice, guests will choose to purchase both.

Remember, when choosing a theme for your baby shower, there are really no wrong choices. Regardless of the choice you make, it's more than likely your guests will show their signs of approval.
