[H1269]How To Improve Your Tennis
by Todd Scott, Tod
If so... here's a strategy improve your quickness.
..

Simply put, your reaction time to the ball is
measured by

1) how long it takes you to recognize the tennis
ball off your opponent's racquet.

2) how long it takes you to 'register' which
direction the tennis ball is moving.

3) how long it take your brain to tell your legs
to move.

4) and, how long it takes for you to fire the
first step towards the ball.

Now, 1-3 can be trained through experience and
practice, and is improved with anticipation...
basically you need to put in your time on the
tennis court.

But #4 is a completely different story.

It doesn't matter if you know the exact place the
tennis ball is going to land, if your muscles can'
t fire fast enough to get to the ball once it's
heading in your direction....1-3 won't make a
hill of beans.

And you know what I'm talking about. There's
nothing worse than standing flat footed on the
tennis court, SEEING the ball hit back to you,
then NOT being able to move your legs fast enough
to get to it.

More times than not, it's like we're a deer in
headlights, thinking "MOVE, MOVE!"

But for some reason, no matter how loud your
inner voice is screaming.... your feet won't move,
and when they do.... it's a day late and a
dollar short.

Hey, believe me, I've been there.

Teaching your muscles to fire faster on the
tennis court with Complex Training.

Complex training for tennis couples a resistance
training exercise with a plyometric power/speed)
exercise for the same muscle group.

And they're done in pairs, normally with the
resistance exercise
performed before the power/speed exercise.

Example Tennis Complex Training for legs:

--------------------------------
Half Squat 70-80% max x 5 reps

Rest 3 minutes

Broad Jumps x 5-9 reps
---------------------------------

That's one set.

The tennis training effect is greatly increased
when using complex training and will allow you to
get more out of your explosive training if the
resistance exercises is performed before the
plyometric exercise.

Complex training will work to greatly improve
your reaction time...

1) You'll reap more benefit and get faster
results than
by simply performing plyometrics alone.

2) It will put you on the move and improve the
time it takes you to get to the ball once your
brain recognizes the ball & its direction.

3) You're muscles will fire faster to put you in
place to rip a smashing winner.

As most tennis players are led to believe tennis
workouts are supposed to be extremely
strenuousand time consuming, where fancy
equipment is used.

How do you know if you're too old for tennis
fitness workouts?

It's simple, really. If you're too old to play
tennis, Then you're too old for a tennis fitness
workout.

I regularly work with tennis players 60 years old
and older who comfortably go through my programs.

Tennis fitness workouts aren't just all about
being able to smash the ball across the net with
a 150 mph ground stroke.

It's all about the fun of the game?

And what's more fun than playing better tennis
without additional effort on the court?

Let's look at a simple example, and use
generalized numbers to make it easy.

We have 2 tennis players, one's a Ferrari, and
one's a Ford Escort

The Ferrari has a top speed of 200 mph.

The Ford Escort has a top speed of 90 mph.

Now we'll both agree that these 2 motors are
completely different, but serve the same purpose.
They're both
able to get you out on the road (the tennis court)
and get you from point A to point B (play a
tennis match.)

Now with the same effort (at half throttle), the
Ferrari will drive and perform at 100 mph, and
the Ford Escort will drive and perform at 45 mph.

But what happens when you take a few parts from A
Ferrari and put it in the Ford Escort engine?

The top speed may increase 20 mph. So with just a
little tinkering in the shop (your tennis fitness
program) you've Just added 10 mph to the same
half throttle effort.

So now, at half throttle, the Ford Escort drives
and performs at 55 mph, instead of 45 mph.

Now let me ask you, would you like to add a
little p-zaz to your tennis game without any
additional effort on the court?

Do you think it would make your game much more
fun if you miraculously walked out on the court
as a better player withoutany additional effort?
Wouldn't that feel great? Wouldn't it be FUN?

Well, it happens everyday.
