People who surf the Internet are using the Google search engine and other search engines to find information on products and services in which they are interested. Google will generally give a website two to three times as much traffic as the other popular search engines combined. This is why paying Google to send traffic to your site is a good idea. You can do this by using Google's advertising program called Adwords.
You have probably already seen this program in action and not have been aware of it. When you do a search for something using Google, you will find that there is a set of results that show up in the sponsored links list. These are the sites that have paid for the privilege of showing up in your search results. You will typically see Ads by Google at the top of the list. This is called a pay per click program because advertisers are charged every time a user clicks on an ad.
Google Adwords is a great addition to your marketing campaign, but should not be the only marketing strategy you use. However, with Google Adwords you can maintain control of your advertising budget because Google allows you to decide on the most that you will pay for a click on your ad. Google gives you the option of setting a limit on the amount you will spend each day. You pick the keywords you want to target and place a bid on the amount you are willing to spend per click for those words. Google claims that their Adwords program has higher click through rates than other programs by as much as four or five times.
This is paid advertising, so you will want to ensure you make use of the most targeted keywords possible. You are paying for the clicks, so you should make sure that you are getting a return on your investment. There are some things that you can do to make sure that your advertising budget is not wasted.
Choose Your Keywords Carefully
Stay away from keywords that are too general. In order to separate your site from other sites and generate traffic from visitors who are likely to buy your product, choose keywords that will bring such potential customers to your site. The competition for specific keywords is relatively lower than for general keywords. As a result, you will pay a lower price per click for these more highly specific keywords. Try to be as specific as you can when you are choosing your keywords.
Target the Geographical Area
You can start advertising for your business in the geographical area where you live or do business. You can be more specific with your keywords in this regard. You can test the waters with the Adwords program. Expand to a broader market after you have achieved some success in the local market.
Check the Grammar and Spelling on Your Ads
It might seem that you should already know it is important to check your advertising grammar and spelling, but you would be surprised how many people don't check their copy after it is written. When you create an ad, make sure the ad does not look poorly written. It will not get clicked if it is. It will also make your business look bad. If possible, have someone else take a look at your copy before you put post it online. Another pair of eyes can sometimes pick up on things that you may have overlooked.
Evaluate Your Competition
It is unlikely that your business is the only one of its kind on the Internet. There are always going to be businesses that will use the same keywords that you are interested in using. Search the keywords you are going to be using and see what comes up. This is a good way to check out your competition. You can see how they are using the ad program for their businesses. Look at their headlines and copy to see how they entice people to their business sites.
Make a Budget and Stick to It
Know how much you could spend at the beginning of your efforts and stick with it. You will need to keep a good evaluation of your marketing techniques to see which ones are having an effect and which ones are not. It will be hard to tell which method you are using is bringing the customers to your site. You can try asking your customers how they found your site. Only increase your budget for a particular campaign that is working.
If you have a website that is informational only, then you probably won't want to pay much for the traffic to your site. If you have a site like this, Google might pay you to advertise for Adwords members on your informational site. You can get more information by visiting Google's advertising program.
You have always dreamed of running your own home based business.
After searching and researching work at home opportunities, you have found the one with a good business plan and a great product.
Even before receiving your inventory, you are spreading the word about your wonderful new business venture.
You have studied the information, perhaps even memorized it and tell everyone all the details and virtues of your product.
You are not making sales.
How can this be? What are you doing wrong? What is the key to making this work?
Well, there is a key to making sales and that key is to simply stop selling.
Start over again and introduce yourself first. People will want to get to know you before they will be interested in your business or product. Create an irresistible attraction to you and you will never have to sell again.
These are some qualities you will want to develop and nurture.
1. Have integrity in everything that you do and with everyone that you approach or contact. Above anything else, integrity is a virtue you should strive for continuously in your daily life, for yourself, with your family, friends, business partners and customers. Not only will you earn respect, but you will help people to feel at ease.
2. Always be considerate, trustworthy and have a fun attitude. People are naturally drawn to fun people, people with charisma and charm. Some of us have natural charisma, some of us do not, but it is a simple trait to develop. Bring a fun attitude to all your interactions and remember to share your gift. Give everyone your smile.
3. Listen. Stop talking and truly listen to the person speaking. Listen without thinking of a response. Repeat something you have heard back to them, followed by a question or solution. Knowing you are truly listening to their questions or concerns will deepen your customers trust and appreciation.
4. Strive to be dependable, organized and willing to take that extra step. Word of mouth will spread about you when you develop these traits. This the best free advertising you can get for yourself and your business. Whenever someone finds a reliable source they will readily share the information and you have created a win-win situation for yourself and your customer. Keep current with any new products or services provided by the company and share this news with your customer base via email, flyers or a newsletter. Offer a discount on new products and reward both your first time customers and the loyal users of your products and services.
5. Stay inspired, believe in yourself and the company you have chosen. Never stop reading or listening to something inspirational and then pass it on to your family, friends and customers. Gently share your perceptions with others. Offer something of value and interest to your contacts. Not every interaction need be business or sales oriented.
Now that you have some ideas and steps to follow, take the necessary time to rethink your approach. Set some goals, take daily action and be disciplined and determined with your business. Take responsibility for your actions, never give up and remember, whether you think you can or cannot do this, you are right.
