For better sounding system in your car you need to know how to install it. Installing of a new car stereo in your car is an added advantage for anyone with any experience in wiring. But do not fear, even if you are not, the following points will show you how to install a car stereo system yourself.
Before you install your car stereo there are a few things you need to keep in hand, which includes wire cutters, electrical tape, screwdriver set, wire strippers and of course new gizmo. Here are some tips on how to install the new system that will assure better sounding system.
How to install tip 1 - Buy a new car stereo keeping in mind what you need and what will fit into the slot provided in your car. When you get a new system you may also get a wiring harness, which is specific to both your car with regard to the kind of model and the new audio product.
This will be an added advantage and can make the wiring job much easier. If you are unable to obtain a wiring harness connect each wire yourself. There will be a guidebook to direct you how to connect.
How to install tip 2 - Plug in the wiring harness to the back of your new car stereo to install your new gizmo or connect the positive and the negative wire from each speaker to the positive and negative connector respectively on the back of your sound application first.
Make sure it is connected properly and if you fail to do so, the speakers will not function at all.
How to install tip 3 - Connect the ground wire usually the black wire of the stereo to a screw or a bolt located near to the dashboard where the application is mounted. But make sure the wire attachment is done to a metal and not on plastic or fiberglass.
How to install tip 4 - Connect the 12 constant and ignition power wires to the system. You can refer to the installation instructions to make sure all the wires goes to the correct places.
How to install a tip 5 - Slide your application into the mounting bracket that came with your stereo after you have plug the harness or the wires and then slide it into the slot in the dash. Do not screw it yet as you will need to test it first. You will find one wire connector option on the back of your stereo that is the option for the antenna.
How to install tip 6 - After you have performed all the above-mentioned tips, connect the negative cable of your car to the battery. Then turn on and the power of your system, put some music and listen to all your speakers and make sure everything works. Then you can screw your car stereo into the dash.
Just be careful when you are putting in your new hardware it will be very easy to hook up the wiring harness the wrong way especially if you are hard wiring it back together.
You will just want to start out by pulling anything away from the dash that is needed when trying to take out the existing stereo that is in your car and even more when you are installing the new stereo.
Head units are the easiest type of CD player to install in a car. You just get a new hole kit at Wal-Mart or advanced if you do you even need one and then just put it in so the head unit will fit and not be sliding around and pulling out when you hit the brakes. You will also probably need a new wiring harness with it.
After you install the head unit you will have to either hard wire the existing wiring harness if you cannot find one for the make of the car or you will have to buy one from a stereo store. Then you just hook the head unit up to the wiring harness and then mount the ground wire and then you are good to go. It is really that simple after you read what I just said and then try and install a new head unit.
If you really want your speakers to sound good with your new head unit you will want to get a highs and mid amp to go along with your head unit and speakers it will make it sound all the better with a new head unit.
When you want to get into bigger and better things you can go to circuit city or best buy and buy yourself some subwoofers and another amp to power those and hook that up and really be doing it big. It is a little bit harder to install but it is the same thing. The only thing that you do different other then installing the head unit is you just run the RCAs to the head unit and run the live wire from the amp to the battery it is that simple. The other things you just wire the speakers to the amp and mount the ground wire for the amp and you're done. All that simple and takes probably under an hour if you are doing a simple car to trunk installation. Then you just tune your amp to how much wattage you want to put out and you start bumping your subs and it will sound so good inside a trunk especially if you get this stuff called DYNOMAT and put it all in the inside of your trunk nothing will rattle and it will sound so much better.
