[H1405]How To Make Money Selling On Ebay
by Jenny How, Jen
Many of these sellers even make a full time living selling off eBay!

eBay's marketplace platform opens up a lot of opportunities for any entrepreneur. Just like any other business, selling on eBay does require some planning.

Here are some personal tips which may assist you.

Whenever you are selling on eBay, make sure you are listing your auction clearly. Often times, a seller will simply mark the name of the object and a price, completely forgoing the inner details which can be vital in making a sale.

Pictures are worth a thousand words and in the case of eBay, a picture is worth a thousand cash. Your pictures can show the quality of an item and entice a buyer to consider buying the item.

Think of multiple angles when shooting pictures.

The best way to do your pictures is to look at the item you are selling with an objective mindset and ask yourself what you would want to see if you were going to buy the item

Make sure you use the "buy it now" option. You can set a low price and allow for anyone to buy outright if they so choose.

Often, buyers will skip auctions if they feel there is going to be too much of a race to acquire the item.

Remember also to give your buyers a chance for questions. Most of the time a buyer may wish to ask you specific questions about an item.

Feedback is important in making any decision; As a buyer ourselves, we like to be able to communicate and ask for help about an item before pulling our our cash for it.

Give your possible buyers as many opportunities as you can to make inquiries.

You always want to make sure you set a low price. If you set your auction more than moderately high, and there are similar auctions going on, you might lose out to the better priced items.

It will also pays for you to research on eBay if there are similar items for auction. Although a lower bid price attracts buyers, remember to set only what you are willing to get.

It doesn't make sense to put an item for bid for $0.99 when your costs is $10. Some Powersellers are very confident that worked in their favors. Most of the time, this serves like an ad that attract buyers to the other listings.

Selling on eBay is an art of dealing with people. Would a seller impress you if he or she leaves you a good feedback praising you of your prompt payment? Do the same to your buyers.

As eBay have prevented the use of negative feedback for buyers, why not leave a good one for them first? You will be much likely be seen as a professional seller to deal with.

Whenever possible, try to insert a small Thank You gift in the parcel to your customer.

The more pleasant an experience is for a buyer, the more likely he or she will return if you post more auctions, or at the very least any other possible buyers will be encouraged.

EBay selling is actually easy if you think about it. But for beginners, here is a list of some of the most effective ways of starting a business with eBay. Before you start with selling items, you have to make an account with eBay first. Remember to create a name which sounds professional.

First, decide what things you would auction off on eBay. Collect them and make it a point to make them look saleable. A large number of people start to make money on eBay through the things in their house that they need to get rid of. This is a great way to start since not so much capital is needed and it would be a less costly way of testing the selling waters of eBay. However, some buyers are picky. So for them, you also have to find new items outside your house while at the same time rummaging in your attic. Try to get the novel items at low-priced sales or at discounted stores. Better yet, if you have the money, you can opt to get a license for a wholesale business and contact a manufacturer.

Second, a good picture is worth more than a thousand marketing words. So take a bright and clear picture of the items you intend to sell online. Get a digital camera which will allow you to get a clear picture of even the smallest details of your product. It has been known in eBay that products without pictures are far less likely to sell than those with clear and distinguishable pictures.

Third, if you are a first time user of eBay, build a good reputation first. A large number of buyers do not tend to purchase from someone who does not have a good record in handling transactions. You have to buy online first in the listings then complete the transaction efficiently. Since buyers do not really know you, your positive feedbacks will serve as a pull for them to buy your products. It will be your trust foundation.

Fourth, after all these, you can now start listing your items in eBay. Be careful in making an effective description of the items you have for auctions. You can not depart from the true nature of your product but you can spice up the descriptions. Be clear in the words you will use, make sure that they can be understood easily. Come up with a realistic price—not too high that will shoo your buyers away, but not too low that will compromise your profits. Be precise on the available payment methods. If you can, you can also include a shipping method.

EBay selling is actually a commitment. You have to find time in looking for those saleable items. After which, you have to find the right words for describing those items. Complete the transactions carefully and honestly. If you have built a good reputation, after some time, you will have constant buyers. From there, profits will come easy.
