[H1571]How To Salsa Dancing
by Bercle George, Ber
The salsa has an eight beat pattern that is made up of two bars of four beats. Salsa, with its passion, mixture of styles, art of flirtation and obscure history has conquered the world and there is no country that has not heard about salsa. More and more people are joining the Gym these days but pumping iron or running on the treadmill is not the only way to get fit.

There is a much more fun way to get sweaty in the name of fitness. So what is this wonderful fun way of getting fit? One of the most widely recognized Cha Chas in Latin and American pop music is "Oye Como Va" ("Listen How It Goes," written by Tito Puente, further popularized by Carlos Santana).

Some Benefits From Dancing Salsa:

1. Love to dance! If you love Latin music and love to dance, salsa dance may be for you.
2. One session of salsa dancing can leave you feeling revived but also lifts your spirits giving you a confidence for dance that you never knew you had.
3. It's an excellent workout exercise that combines aerobic and anaerobic training.
4. Experts say that dancing salsa can burn up to 10 calories a minute, without the negative side effects of high impact exercises such as running.
5 You can really take advantage of this since it is free and you will more than likely find a dance partner that will be at the same level as you.
6 You'll get a fantastic workout, and it's also one of the easiest ways possible to add some excitement to your life!
7. Most salsa dancers have fabulous physiques because the muscles worked in salsa dancing can add new form and definition to your body.
8 The continual movement of the salsa dance style steadily burns calories but also tones the body-most specifically the legs.

Some Tips In Learning Salsa:

1. Good Salsa dancing lessons will take you step by step though the easy to learn basic steps and turns so within a matter of weeks you will be dancing like you were born in Havana Cuba.
2. If you are a beginner don't buy a advanced patterns video.
3. Consider salsa dance as a profession.
4. Try going with your instructor to the salsa club for the first time, he/she will probably point out who to be wary off.
5. DVD & Videos are great if you have some experience of Salsa dancing.

Basic Steps:

1. All moves in Salsa can be done separately or in ever more complicated patterns.
2. According to beats step forward starting with left foot, with your partner mirroring your steps backward.
3. The basic step is as follows: On counts 1, 2, and 3 the leader steps forward, then you replace the weight to your previous support foot keeping it in place, and then step backward.

Cuban Salsa

With the Cuban Salsa, on counts 1, 2, and 3 a backward basic occurs while on counts 5, 6, and 7 a forward basic happens. The Cuban style can be danced as a contratiempo or on-one. For some unknown genetic reasons, Cubans seems to be born with super flexible joints to do all these difficult maneuvers! Somehow many of their turns seem to defy body geometry! Just as you think that a particular move must be impossible, they'll come up with something that is even more complex! Not only will all the intertwining tunnels and twisting bodywork dazzle you, you'll also be impressed by their rhythmic body movements as well.

Attire Tips;

1. Much like shoes, the outfits made for dancing are greatly different than outfits made for regular wear and tear.
2. Cotton fabrics are always a good choice.
