[H1646]How To Stay Home
by Stephanie Foster, Ste
Where are they? Besides at home, that is.

Try the Park

I've run into a lot of my fellow SAHMs by taking my kids to the park. The trick is in figuring out what time they are going to be there.

I kept missing the other moms for a long time at the park. There were just never there when I was. But I always tended to go at lunchtime or later in the afternoon.

I finally started going to the park with my youngest after dropping my oldest off at kindergarten. Voila! There they were, also having their younger children play after dropping older children off at the school next door.

Try Activities

Yes, this costs money. But I've gotten to talk to a lot of other stay at home moms when I've been able to sign my kids up for activities. This especially works when the kids are younger and you have to stick around for the class. As a rule you'll see other stay at home parents, the occasional part time employed parent, and grandparents having fun with their grandchildren.

Try Online

You won't meet so many local moms as a rule, but there are plenty of forums and websites dedicated to stay at home moms. The Internet is full of resources and great people for you to meet. You can be very open about who you are or keep relatively anonymous.

There are also websites that can help you to get matched up with local moms. Just search on "mom groups" and you will find some great resources to help.

Take a Walk

Take a walk at various times of the day in your neighborhood. It can be hard to find other moms out for a walk with their kids sometimes, but it can be done. If you find a fellow stay at home mom, try walking together regularly. It can be a chance to get to know each other even before trying out a play date.

The great part is that many of these are free to do. Others may cost a small amount, but can be worth the expense if they're fun for you and your child. As you get comfortable making the effort, you'll realize how many potential friends you and your child have out there. And you won't feel so isolated.

If you are a stay at home mother looking for a way to make money while raising your children, eBay has just the answer. With eBay, you can start your own home business in a matter of minutes, and start making money in no time. Many stay at home moms are finding that they can bring home just as much money, if not more, from selling items on eBay than they would working a traditional job outside of the home. Plus, with the small amount of time in effort involved, you have plenty of time left to spend with your children.

The problem for many eBay business owners who are just starting out, however, is what exactly to sell. While the prospect of running your own home business with eBay may sound exciting, you'll be stopped dead in your tracks if you don't have anything you can actually list. Most people turn to brand new items to sell on eBay at a discounted price, but this can be costly - and even impossible - for those who are just starting out and have little money to invest in the endeavor.

Instead, you can turn to other sources for items to sell on eBay. Starting with what you have right in your very own home, you can start selling the unwanted toys and clothes that you've been meaning to get rid of. They're just sitting around, anyway, so it doesn't matter if you make $1 or $100 from selling them. You'll be able to both clear out the unwanted clutter, and make some money to get your business going at the same time.

When you have a little bit of cash saved up from selling items from around the house, then you can look at some alternative places for products to sell. If you are doing well selling used items from your home, then you may want to start checking out yard sales and other second-hand item retailers in your area. Most items can be picked up at a very cheap price, and in good condition. You can take it one step further and clean the items up, and restore them to looking almost as though they were new. With a little bit of elbow grease, a used toy may be able to fetch twice as much on eBay when you list it.

You can also visit clearance sales at popular department stores to pick up cheap clothing to sell. This clothing is obviously new, which will earn higher bids on eBay. You can find some really good deals on the clearance racks, and if you luck out and find some designer brands, you can make a killing reselling them on eBay. Just make sure to remove the clearance sticker from the original price tag! If buyers see that you paid significantly less for the item than they did, they are likely to get upset for paying an inflated price.

Other places to find discounted items for selling on eBay include consignment shops, discount stores, warehouses, and farmer's markets. These places often have used items in good condition that you can fix up for a profit, or even new items, it you're lucky. The more places to discover to find items for selling on eBay, the more your business will flourish.
