In life there comes a time, for everyone on when you need to decide if you would like to attend college. For some it comes right out of high-school, for others it comes later in life. I want to give you some tips I used, when I made the decision to go to college.
1. First when applying to go to college you must have a high-school diploma. You may have a GED, and there are some schools that will let you go working on a GED. My opinion would be get the GED first. Although the choice is yours. So that is your first step have one or the other.
2. Decide. By this I mean where do you want to go to school. 4 year BA or a 2 year community college you have a lot to choose from but the choice is yours. When you have made the choice now you can apply to go to school.
3. Call the schools, of your choice and ask for the Admissions office. More than likely the college rep will be able to answer many questions for you that you have. Now here is where you ask what you need to apply. When I applied to go to school I had to get my GED transcript sent to the college and I had to write a letter of intent. A letter of intent is why you want to go to school there and a little bit about yourself. I would say like a resume but it is formal. Also there are always fees to apply for college, I am going to write a article going over that subject at a later date so be sure to come back to my ehow to see more about getting those fees wavied.
4. Now every school has a different way of accepting people. When they receive everything that is needed, they have a time period where they will review the application and decide if you are right for that college. The hope is that you will be accepted, but keep in mind that every college has standards and you have to meet them. So keep your options open and do not think just because you applied means you will get in. Good luck on your dreams and I hope you accomplish them.
