[H1409]How To Make Origami Flowers
by Tommy Pereira, Tom
I had been bed-ridden for the last six months and feeling really stressed out and depressed, then I happened to stumble upon an ad for making origami flowers and I tried it.

To my pleasant surprise, it was a very relaxing pass time and made my stress level decrease dramatically. Looking at one of the origami flowers that I created always gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment. As a result, my stress level began to increasingly improve.

To create an origami flower you need only a couple of things. The special colors of the origami paper that you need to make your origami flower can be purchased at any local hobby, or arts and craft store. The folding process usually uses paper that is thinner than newspaper and it's also cut into the right size and shape, although you could use newspaper. The only tools you need is a pair of scissors, a pencil, and a ruler.

The rose is among the simplest origami flowers to create. Four sheets of origami paper are needed, one sheet for the leaves and three sheets for the flower. The red piece of origami paper is about 3/4 the length of the first sheet, and the third is about 3/4 the length of the second. The fourth square (the green one) is the same size as the largest red piece. Origami square base is the pattern that will be used to fold all three of the red pieces.

This is a simple process to learn! Let's start, shall we?..

1. Begin with one square and fold it on the diagonals, then fold it on the East-West line and the North-south line. The colored side should be facing upwards. The diagonals should be folded downwards(as the valley goes), and the East-West and North-South lines upward (as the mountains go). Repeat this process on the other 2 red pieces...

2. Now, fold the right corner of the base to the imaginary line in the middle and then unfold it...

3. Next fold the edge onto the crease mark you made and unfold it. Then fold the right side to the left side, after that repeat this same procedure on the reverse side. The two remaining pieces of red origami paper use the same steps...

4. Then, put the rose pedal forms inside one another to giving your flower a 3-D look. Lastly, shape the green paper to make leaves and put it underneath all the red petals for a beautiful flower.

Making origami flowers is a very rewarding, inexpensive hobby to do. It's easy to learn, once you get the right directions, and it's very much fun to do. Learning this process is very easy to do and it takes only a couple of hours at most and for many people the learning curve is relatively short. The creation of origami flowers gets faster the more of these lovely flowers you make.
