uses hanging clear plastic bags of water near outdoor

flies all the time.

because of the flies instincts and its limited vision.
The bags of water do resemble images of spider webs.
The flies won't approach a spider web if they know it.
A another reason is that the reflection of the water

Simply fill large size ziplock or other clear plastic bags
with water about halfway full. Then hang these bags in outdoor
areas where the sun can strike them and that is between flies and

the bags of water. This is reported to increase the results.
