[H1196]How To Get Rid Of Lovehandles
by Ken Wilson, Ken
If you are a regular tie wearer, you would probably know how to a tie in a matter of seconds without having to dread doing so. You will surely know what a Windsor knot is and how to do one, and you should be knowledgeable of how to get rid of tie wrinkles as well. Remember the time when you were trying to learn how to tie a tie? The moment you finally learned how to do that Windsor knot - it felt good right? Looking at you in front of the mirror, looking nice and confident... You surely felt like a different person. Before you knew it, your professional life had started and things were never the same.

As you go through your everyday life wearing a tie, knotting your tie becomes a routine. You go about it without having to think about the steps you need to take. Some people are very wary about taking care of their tie as much as they have been when they were still learning how to tie a tie. These are the type of people who have neat ties all the time. On the other hand, if you are one of the rather normal ones, you usually do not pay much attention to your tie. You know how important it is not to keep your tie knotted when stored no matter how nice that Windsor knot you did this morning. However, finding your tie with wrinkles is normal for you. How do you deal with wrinkles on your tie anyway?

If your tie is thick or is made of heavy silk, wrinkles will be a common occurrence. It makes your tie look worn and very much used, and looks untidy as well, even if you have only worn it for a few hours. Despite that nicely-done Windsor knot, the beauty of your tie will not be much appreciated if it is wrinkled all over. Fortunately, it is very easy to remove wrinkles on your tie and it can be done overnight.

To remove wrinkles, you basically just need to wrap the tie around with your hand. First, simply hold the narrow end of the tie with your thumb while letting the rest of it hang down on the floor (without having to touch it). Then, start wrapping the rest of the tie around your hand, rolling it until the rest of it is rolled up. When it is neatly round up, simply lay it flat on top of a table or inside your drawer where it can rest and "recover" for a while. Some people also simply hang their ties on their tie hanger until the wrinkles disappear.

Equally important to learning how to tie a tie or to do the Windsor knot is knowing how to properly take care of your tie. Remember that your tie should not only be well-knotted, it should look smooth and perfect as well. The next time you look at your perfect Windsor knot in the mirror; do not forget to check for wrinkles on your tie as well!

The ?green? side of your conscience tells you that within a one year period half a tree gives its life for this pile of unwanted rubbish. The business side of you kicks and you realise that these faxes are burning ink and paper at your expense.

The good news is that you can stop unwanted faxes quite easily through the Fax Preference Service.

The government introduced legislation on May 1st 1999 that made it unlawful to send unsolicited faxes to individuals, sole traders and partnerships without prior permission.

Following the adoption of the Telecommunications Data Protection Directive in 1997 by the European Parliament, the DTI (Department of Trade & Industry) and OFTEL entered into a consultation period which resulted in The Telecommunications (Data Protection and Privacy) Regulations 1999. These regulations affect all fax-marketers and telemarketers in the United Kingdom and they came into force on May 1st 1999.

?Don't shoot the messenger but you could have stopped your unwanted faxes over 9 years ago.?

In February 1999 OFTEL issued an Invitation to tender for the management of fax and telephone opt out schemes. The Direct marketing Association (DMA0) was successful in their tender and was awarded the contract to run the Fax Preference Service (FPS) along with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS).

Now you've had your history lesson here's the nitty gritty on how to stop unwanted faxes?

It's simple: ring the Fax Preference Service (FPS) on 0845 070 0702.

This automated service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All you have to do is state your fax number and address when prompted.

If you are a client facing organisation then you may want to consider sharing this free service with your customers. If you see a fax machine that has spat out unwanted faxes when you are on a sales call you will earn massive kudos by asking your customer if they you would like you to make those type of nasty faxes go away with one phone call.

Within 48 hours of registering with the Fax preference Service my unwanted faxes had stopped. At most I get 3 unsolicited faxes a year which I can live with. I registered over 3 years ago.

One point worth noting is that some companies flaunt the law and still send faxes. These faxes contain an opt out number which you can ring to unsubscribe. Beware! The unsubscribe number is very often a premium rate number charging as high as ?1.50 per minute.

So, if you want to be free of those unwanted faxes, just register your fax number with the FPS ? it really is as easy as that.

What you might find a little irritating is leaving your fax number plus business name and address on an answering machine. Be assured this is how it works.
