[H1167]How To Get Medical
by Ronen David, Ron

Medicaid is a type of medical and dental insurance that is available for those that don't have the income to pay for such insurance on their own. Medicaid is a government program and the exact requirements for it can be different in each state. There will be an application that has to be completed as well as verification of income and resources. There is an income guideline that is based on the total number of people that reside in the household.

In most states, Medicaid is only available for children under the age of 18 that meet the eligibility criteria. They must also be legal citizens of the United States. Many states also offer Medicaid for pregnant women so that they can get the prenatal care that they need. Their child will automatically be eligible for Medicaid until they turn one year of age. Some states also have Medicaid for those that are disabled and the elderly but it depends on how their regulations are written.

If you don't have medical or dental insurance you should find out if you and your family qualify for Medicaid. In some states you can qualify even if you have other forms of insurance. The Medicaid will be a backup resource and can only be accessed when there are expenses the other insurance won't pay or co-pays.

Not all doctors and medical facilities are willing to take Medicaid though. This can be frustrating when you find that you have been approved for program yet you can't find someone that will take it. Some states offer an 800 number you can call to find Medicaid providers in your area. Keep in mind though that most of them only allocate a certain amount of slots for patients with this type of coverage.

The goal of Medicaid programs is to ensure individuals have a resource to help them get the medical and dental care they need. Too many people don't seek medical attention when they need to due to not being able to pay for it. While there are still some kinks in the system that have to be worked out, it is a very beneficial program. More providers are added all the time to help ensure those with Medicaid can get services.

Although Medicaid is a Federal program, the eligibility guidelines for it are determined by each state. This is why you will need to contact your local department of human services to apply for it. Most states have the locations divided up by counties so you will also need to make sure you contact the one in the area where you reside. You can call for an application to be mailed to you or pick one up at their office. You may find local doctor's offices, clinics, and hospitals also have the applications available.

It is very important to complete all of the information on the application for Medicaid completely. Failure to do so can delay the processing of your application and it can also result in it being denied. You will be asked to provide information on each member in your household. You will need to provide birth certificates, social security cards, and often immunization records for all household members.

You will also need to provide information relating to income and resources in the household. Make sure you make copies of pay stubs, vehicle registrations, and checking or savings accounts. All of this information is needed in order to determine eligibility. You may be able to apply for back dated Medicaid to cover the three months prior to the date you turn in your application. You will need to submit income for that period of time as well as copies of medical bills.

Make sure you are very honest with the information you provide on a Medicaid application. If you are found to have intentionally falsified information in order to be eligible you can face criminal charges. This can result in a fine and jail time. If you received coverage of Medicaid benefits fraudulently you will also need to repay those expenses.

The application process for Medicaid can be confusing at times. If you need assistance, contact your local department of human services. They can help you to schedule an appointment for you to go over it with someone. If you get a letter from them asking for more information to complete your eligibility make sure you comply as quickly as possible with getting them that necessary information.

Although it's almost always advised that some professional attention be paid to moderate to severe cases of acne, advice may also be sought for less severe cases. Since psychological scarring is less "visible," it's important to be honest with oneself and know when to get help to treat even the most light cases of acne.

Doctors might not be able to cure every case, but they sometimes can provide information that can help alleviate the impacts and lessen the frequency of breakouts.

Seeking professional help for acne is a personal choice, but in general it's a good idea to do so if the following statements are true in your case:
* My acne embarrasses me and I don't want to be seen.
* I am shy because of my physical appearance, especially my face because of acne.
* I don't feel very upbeat about life since acne started.
* I've tried everything I could find over the counter and nothing seems to work to lessen my breakouts.
* Scarring has started to take place once pimples go away.
* My acne is actually painful. It hurts when my face is touched - even when I wash it.
* It appears as if the site of breakouts is inflamed severely and/or infected.

Choosing to seek medical advice for an acne breakout might not lead to a cure, but oftentimes there is help available to lessen impacts. Since many insurance companies now cover trips to a dermatologist as a routine visit, it doesn't hurt to get a case checked out. Perhaps the physician can offer advise for lessening the frequency of breakouts or provide medication that will help minimize the chances for permanent scarring.

No matter how severe a case of acne is, if it's interfering in your life, it's probably time to seek professional advice. If scarring is happening, it's probably beyond time to get a little medical attention. If nothing else, a trip to a professional might help put your mind at ease, which is important, too, when dealing with acne or any condition that has visible symptoms that can also create embarrassment and discomfort.
