[H1187]How To Get Rid Of Acne At Home
by Allaner Limer, All
If you want to get rid of acne, should you choose to use home remedies or medications? Unfortunately, there is no straight forward answer. The fact is getting rid of acne is no straightforward process. What works for someone does not necessary work for another.

In this article, we will focus on what are some of the different types of acne medication that are available in the market.

1)Accutane

Accutane can be a very effective medication for treating more severe cases of acne in many people. However, if you are considering Accutane as an option, it should always be consumed with sound medical advice and under close monitoring.

2)Adapalene

Adapalene is usually prescribed and it can come in various forms, namely, cream, liquid or gel. Do note that Adapalene can be rather costly when compared to other form of treatments.

However, when Adapalene works, it can work very well to bring acne under control. If you are using Adapalene, do note that they may be some unexpected happenings.

For example, your condition may get worse initially but you might be able to observe noticeable improvements after the first few days.

3)Antibiotics

You may be prescribed with erythromycin to treat your acne. Obviously, the effects will vary from person to person, but if it works, the results can be pretty good. However, do bear in mind that when taking any drugs, especially antibiotics, it is important to follow the instructions given.

4) Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl Peroxide is perhaps one of the most commonly used acne medication. It can be found either over the counter or made available through prescription. The difference is probably the strength of the drug.

Though Benzoyl Peroxide is known to help many acne patients, it can cause side effects like drying. If you experience any irritation or drying, it is recommended that you stop taking the medication immediately.

However, if those side effects are not present but your acne is not going away either, it may mean that a higher dosage is needed. If you have any doubts, the best option is to consult a qualified medical professional.

Acne itself is a rather complex condition. Thus, to get rid of acne is not an easy task.

First, there are many different types of acne. Second, there are many possible causes of acne. Third, there are many forms of treatments.

Therefore, it is not always easy to find a suitable acne treatment. Perhaps, it may take some time before you find the right treatment for yourself.

Cleanse your face using a cleanser appropriate for your skin type, that will not dry out your face or leave it greasy.

Diet can be important, although there is some debate as to whether certain foods exacerbate acne. Keep track of when your breakouts are worst, and if there seems to be a particluar food that causes flareups, cut it out of your diet.

Remember that good nutrition will have a positive effect on your complexion. If you are not eating properly, consider a multivitamin daily, as well as taking MSM, which enables your body to absorb nutrients more efficiently.

Exfoliation is important to remove skin cells that may lead to clogged pores. Be careful if you have sensitive skin, as this may aggravate the condition. Instead of a grainy scrub, you may want to look for a product with buffered chemical exfoliants, and remember to test any product on a small patch of skin to make sure you are not going to react negatively to it.

There are many over the counter treatments for acne. Salicylic acid helps cell turnover, and benzoyl peroxide is an effective way to reduce the number of bacteria on the skin, and reduce inflammation associated with pimples. It is best to apply a small amount all over the face, because there is little you can do about the acne you actually see; it is more about preventing the blemishes that are forming beneath the surface.

If, even after using the above preventive and treatment measures, don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. There have been many advances in acne treatment, and your doctor may prescribe oral or topical antibiotics or lotions and creams to help you deal with your condition more effectively.

There is no reason you need to suffer alone. Acne can be embarrassing, but the feeling of finally being able to control it is worth anything you need to do to get there!
