[H1186]How To Get Rid Of A Pimple
by John Ward, Joh
What are pimples? Pimples, blackheads and whiteheads are all of characteristics of acne. Acne occurs when pores become clogged. Pores are miniscule openings on the surface of the skin that lead to a tube called the follicle. The follicle contains an oil gland and a hair. It's all about Oil when talking about getting rid of pimples.

When the oil gland produces too much oil, the pores can become blocked, building up oil, dirt, makeup and bacteria and causing swelling, whiteheads, blackheads and pimples. When the inflamed follicle is deep within the surface of the skin, the acne may form large painful cysts called cystic acne. Clearly, this is not a situation that anyone wants to have.

So how to get rid of pimples? Acne most commonly occurs on the face, back and shoulders, but can also appear on the torso, buttocks and arms and legs. Sometimes acne can appear on the genital area. Genital acne is caused the same way as the acne on the face, and can appear on the penis, scrotum, and labial folds.

When trying to reduce the out breaks of acne, start by washing the affected areas using a non-detergent, oil and fragrance free cleanser. For oily skin a cleanser containing benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid can also reduce the oils that cause pimples. When using a cleanser always wash gently in a circular motion and never scrub as scrubbing can irritate the skin and cause swelling around the pores creating more breakouts.

Switching to fragrance free soap and laundry detergent, wearing loose breathable clothing when
sweating and washing or tying back long oily hair can also help in eliminating breakouts of acne.

Between the ages 12 to 24, 85% of teenagers are likely to suffer from acne outbreaks. Additionally, 25% of these people will generate permanent scars that will range from light to severe condition.

The American Dermatologists Association stated that:

1) 25 % of people undergoing adulthood suffer from active acne.
2) 60M Americans experience active acne.
3) 20M Americans are likely to suffer from acne-generated scars.
4) A maximum of 11% of all acne sufferers seek medical assistance.
5) Acne is regarded as a social taboo.

Also, it was also found out that:

1) 11% of acne-afflicted individuals will seek a physicians help.
2) 20% goes to a skin center.
3) 30% will make use of over the counter medications, which are brought from drugstores and pharmacies to personally treat acne.
4) 40% will not do anything about their skin disorder.

There are some extremely effective ways to reduce acne overnight--many people claim that daubing regular toothpaste over the pimples before bed can dry out the oil and reduce the swelling virtually making the pimple disappear overnight. Some over-the-counter acne medicines that contain benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid work well in drying out and reducing the swelling and inflammation.

No sooner have you solved the problem of acne on your face another problem raises its ugly head, how to get rid of pimples on your back? The back is made up of innumerable sebaceous glands producing excessive oil. Furthermore, the back usually remains covered, less accessible and receives most physical pressure.

Hence there are more chances of its pores getting clogged with dirt and sweat and further cleaning is also not done easily. Moreover, acne on the back is usually very acute with cysts and nodules. These problems tend to make treating back acne also known as athletic acne very hard though not impossible.

Solutions to the problem

Back acne is also caused due to hormonal changes as well as any strenuous physical activity. The first problem can be solved to an extent by avoiding fast food, having a balanced diet, drinking lots of water and exercising. These help to get rid of toxins and extra hormones thereby balancing the whole body process. Moreover, exercising increases blood circulation and the skin absorbs more oxygen giving it a healthy glow.

The second problem, that is strenuous exercise, is often unavoidable especially for athletes, hence one could follow a few guidelines that could contain the problem. Exercise or a round at the gym causes one to sweat profusely, this sweat can cause the acne, and to avoid this it is best that the person uses non-clinging, light clothing. Again materials like lycra and wool should be avoided as they trap the sweat and also irritates the skin aggravating the problem.

After the exercise it is a must for an individual to have a bath to remove the sweat. Using soap and a scrub to wash off that dirt and grime would be very helpful. You could also treat the acne on your back by using a cleanser containing salicyclic acid and apply medicines containing benzoyl peroxide.

Other things that would do you good are:

1.Before getting dressed make sure your back is completely dry
2.Apply sunscreen before exposing your back
3.Try using clay masks to remove dirt from deep inside
4.Inflammatory acne can be treated by antibiotics, topical retinoids and also by injecting cortisone
5.Try to avoid hot and clammy surroundings and also stay away from cooking as well, as the grease from the cooking can aggravate blackheads and clogged pores leading to further acne.

Following these tips regularly should effectively counter your back acne problem however if it still persists, visiting your dermatologist is the best option.
