[H879]How To Build A Barbecue Grill
by Chrystal Holman, Chr
If you have a backyard and an outside patio you will most probably own a barbecue grill. During summer, the barbecue grill is one of the most important cooking instruments. Traditionally, it is the male's job to grill the meat. It must have something to do with our cavemen ancestry that is satisfied by cooking meat on an open flame.

Just having to smell the meat sizzling on the coals is enough to make anyone hungry.

There is a large variety of size and shapes of barbecue grills. For those with small spaces, a table-top grill can grill meat just as well as the larger models.

Prices vary, with the larger stainless steel models going for more than two thousand dollars. The basic function of a barbecue grill is to cook meat. But, some have so many other accessories and additions that they look ready to take off and fly. Some grills also come attached with smoker accessories so the unit can accomplish more than just grilling.

There are grills in all shapes and sizes available that will fit in with not with the taste but also with their needs. One thing you need to ask yourself when looking at grills is: How large a grill do you need? Meat racks can be small, maybe enough to cook two steaks, or large enough to cook for a large party.

You can cook any kind of meat on a barbecue grill, from chicken, beef, and pork, to even fish. Meat flavors can be improved in many different ways. You can choose from many different sauces in which to marinated the meat overnight to add the desired taste. I bet when you put a properly marinated steak on a barbecue, your mouth is already watering.

You can also add different flavorings to the meat on the grill. A quick visit to the grocery store and you can get more flavorings than you could ever use. You can even get spices that are made for a particular kind of meat.

Watch out for flare-ups because they can singe and ruin the meat. Almost all barbecue grills come with a lid. When cooking meat that drips often, keeping the lid closed while cooking will stop the flare up.

Even though a closed lid will reduce flare-ups, you still have to keep an eye on it. Don't just walk away. It's important to know how long to cook a particular kind of meat to the tenderness that you desire. You don't want meat to be underdone and then blushingly having to fire up the barbecue again.

Keep a sharp knife ready to check how cooked the meat is. When you have an idea of the time needed to cook the meat to your requirements, half the worries is gone. Don't overcook the pieces, it tastes bad and looks even worse.

There is a growing demand for portable grills and it's important that you understand the different features that are out there on the market. A portable grill can be transported to a campsite or to a picnic and be up and running in a matter of minutes. Having a portable grill for use at home has its perks as well. You can move it into the garden or set it up in the garage.

To meet this demand, grill manufacturers have come up with several models. These grills are light, easy to transport, and can be set up easily. They are also budget-friendly, they range in price from $50 to $200.

They should, however, be handled with care especially the propane grills. No one should take chances with natural gas or liquid propane it is highly inflammable and can cause an explosion if handled improperly or in a careless manner.

Make sure that your portable gas grill has no holes or leaks. Though it may appear tedious, you should always test any type of gas grill for leaks. You should not light cigarettes or candles around the grill, as even a small gas leak could trigger an explosion. Also, never tamper with the safety valve fixed on the propane tank.

Similarly, the propane tank should be kept immobile when transporting the grill to another location. It should not be allowed to roll around in the trunk of the car or in the back of a pick-up truck, because that much motion increases the gas pressure inside the tank, and the tank could explode.

Charcoal grills don't suffer from these disadvantages. They are less delicate and can be transported with ease. Their only bad point is that they can take hours to light and warm up in damp or rainy weather. On such occasions, it is better to carry a propane grill despite its disadvantages. Also, use caution when transporting any kind of portable grill after using it, as it could be hot.

The choice is ultimately up to you- there is nothing better than a nice juicy steak after a long day of hunting or fishing. And with the right tools, you should have no problem creating the perfect campsite meal.
