[H1027]How To Do French Braid
by Jessica T, Jes
Although it looks really complicated, it's actually quite easy to learn how to do hair in a French braid. You want to start by brushing out all the tangles from your hair, then smooth your hair down with a mousse or holding gel. You'll want that gel to help keep your hair in place as you work with it.

You will then take a section at the front of the hair where the bangs are or would be. This section should be from temple to temple (right above the ear line).

Now divide this into three sections, and start braiding. Begin by braiding the right section over the middle section. Don't forget to hold on tight to the braid, or some of the hair will slip away from your hands.

Now to continue you bring the left segment over the middle segment. You should keep a spritz bottle full of water at hand, just in case your hair begins to dry out. It's easier to handle when it's wet rather than dry.

Next, you will use a comb to take more hair from the head on the left side. This strip of hair should begin about an inch or so down from the temple. You'll be adding this to the left section of your braid.

Repeat this step for the right side of your head; after that, bring the right section of hair over the middle one. After that, braid the left section over the middle section.

Continue in this way with braiding and adding new strips of hair until you finally reach the base of your head. Finalize the French braid by braiding up the loose sections of hair into a normal braid.

You can tie the end of the hair with a ribbon or pony tail holder. Learning how to do hair in a French braid is easy if you practice. Soon it will be like second nature, even if you don't necessarily get it right the first time.
