[H1095]How To Fix A Wall Hole
by John Bakers, Joh
Making a hole in the wall is easy but to fix one how easy is it? It is easier to fix in your wall any size hole than you may think. Follow these five easy steps.
1. Find out the size of the Hole
The different size holes need slightly different repair techniques. All you have to do is patch it along with compound if you have a small hole or a nail. For smooth finish sand the spot after it is dried.
You will have to treat them as fully new areas to be covered for truly large holes. In the framing if any nails or screws are showing then you must remove it and then a brand new should be cut. Then you will have to secure the drywall and then finish the new wall after using tape and sand.
You may go away after measuring your hole. For the hole size that you have you want to ensure that you are using the correct patching method.
2. Research
As you decide the technique that you need to use for filling up your hole then ensure that you have everything at your disposal that is required. This will save your precious time afterwards making sure that you have sufficient compound mixed and also the right tools for applying. When the compound is mixed and ready you will have to work quickly so you will not want to take the risk of drying as you forgot to lay out all your required tools.
3. Do Not Over Spackle
Although you can assume that if you apply sufficient of your compound then it will solve all your problems but it wont be the case essentially. Only compound usage wont be effective if your wall have a medium or large hole as it does not have anything to make a grip. Very unstable patching will be the result and it will probably fall apart or crack. You do not want to use too much compound even on the small patch-ups. The compound application secret is to apply as little as possible and as smoothly as you can.
4. Little patience required
Often you are concerned to get moving while trying to complete new house project. You require taking your time in such case and ensure that before moving the compound is dry completely on to the sanding and finishing phase.
5. Sanding and Finishing Stage.
Although your hole may appear smooth but you will not want to miss the sanding procedure. Little ridges can be there, which you may not see but once you start painting that will become more evident. Lightly sand the area so that too much compound is not taken off. From the sanding clean all the dust area and then to the painting stage carry on.
