This is a question that many people ask them selves in the middle of the week all of the time. It can seem like you have just gotten paid and before you know what has happened you are already broke for the rest of the week. Where did all my money go is something that many of us constantly ask ourselves because money does have a way of disappearing faster than we are able to make it.
Money does not really evaporate. It is spent somewhere is how it really disappears. Sometimes we just get caught up in the day to day business of getting by and do not even pay much attention to all the small things we spend money on, but that definitely add up. All of this small spending can suck the cash out your wallet pretty quickly when you just continue to pull it out for every little thing throughout the day.
When you get up in the morning, instead of making a pot of coffee at home and fixing a thermos full to take to work with you, you stop at one of the expensive coffee shop[s and indulge in a single cup that might cost you four dollars. For four dollars you can put enough coffee with a flavoring of your choice in a thermos and have enough for your morning cup or two and enough left over for lunch and the drive home if you like.
For lunch you might go out with friends and spend ten or fifteen dollars at a burger joint or restaurant instead of bringing a packed lunch and eating in the park or office. You can enough lunch for two or three days and chances are they will be healthier food as well.
Gas for our vehicle is a real budget buster these days. How many times a week do you make extra trips to the store or somewhere else for things when you could probably have just made one big trip and would be finished for the week? We waste a lot of fuel in this country simply because we go where we want when we want even if it is not really necessary. This is definitely a habit that we are going to have to break.
When you live on a budget, it is important to watch every dollar if you want to have enough money left over to do the things you enjoy. If you are trying to save some money for retirement, you will have a lot more to retire on if you pay closer attention to the small things you spend on now and you might be able to afford to be a little more frivolous when you are older.
