Practicing meditation can be a great tool in the battle to achieve a more restful night's sleep. You CAN achieve a deeper and more refreshing sleep that will leave you ready to tackle your new day. Meditation is often very helpful for those who have trouble falling to sleep in the first place. It's a way for them to deeply relax their muscles and also their minds, thus allowing sleep to come more quickly to them.

A lot of people, for a variety of reasons, may try taking numerous different pills. However, you should know that with sleeping pills, you run the risk of interrupted sleep and daytime drowsiness. If you decide to use meditation instead of medication, it takes practice to learn the techniques that work for your body in particular, so be patient.

You can meditate in many different ways, such as using music, or not using music, lighting candles, or trying a more intense technique of yoga meditation by sitting quietly and letting your mind wander. Meditation will help to reduce your stress and anxiety, so that you get a better night's sleep.

There are things that you can do to help you focus on your meditation, like repeating a positive phrase to yourself, either in your mind or aloud. This positive phrase is known as a mantra. Or you can use a relaxing CD or deep breathing to focus. Focus on getting rid of the negative thoughts and having more positive thoughts to prevent disruption of your meditation.

Focus on your meditation by creating a desirable atmosphere. Try these ideas to help you focus and eliminate distractions.

1. Find a location that's quiet and where you're not likely to be interrupted. It could be a secluded room in your home or an isolated nook in the park. Eliminate disturbances such as the TV, phone and similar irritations.

2. Get comfortable. Find a sitting position that is comfortable for you, using pillows or cushions if required. Remove your footwear, and do not wear anything that restricts you.

3. Now relax. Shut your eyes and allow your thoughts to wander. Picture a calming scene such as a meadow of grazing sheep or a quiet pond to help you concentrate.

4. Take a deep breath and focus on each one. These deep breaths will help to increase your oxygen levels and relieve stress.

Meditation right before bed can improve your sleep patterns and help you to get a good night's sleep. Even just 10 to 15 minutes per day will help you relax and sleep better.

If you have a good box spring but your mattress is starting to sag a bit, try using a large piece of plywood between the mattress and box spring. For a mattress that is just beginning to sag in the middle, this trick will make your set feel strong and new again. Providing support once again using the plywood between the mattresses set will extend the life of your mattress for another one or two years.
Another tip is to try flipping the mattress over, thus bringing the sag to the top. Unfortunately, this is only a short term solution.

If you have decided there is no saving your mattress but the box spring is still in decent shape, try shopping for a mismatched mattress piece. These are generally less expensive than a new set but the sizes, and types are often limited.

If you have decided to replace the entire set a good place to start at is furniture clearance outlets. These stores carry new or returned mattress sets that generally were ordered and not what the customer wanted for one reason or another. The sets are lower in price to make room for the newest mattress sets.
If you are aware what type of firmness or softness you want then you can shop according to that. There are many varieties from firm to pillow top to foam to air filled. It is important to try them and find the one mattress that will help you sleep comfortably.

Many people are hesitant to buy mismatched sets, however as long as you are buying the same size, no one will ever know except you. Once you have put the mattress cover, sheets, and bedding on your mattress you will not be able to notice that the set does not match.

Regardless of your choice it is important to remember that sleep is a necessary part of a healthy lifestyle and the more comfortable your mattress, the more rested you will feel.
