Take a Tour of Hawaii and See the House of the Sun How would you feel about the Maui sun for your vacation? Maui is one of six islands that makes up Hawaii and is divided into two islands: East Maui and West Maui. East Maui’s biggest feature is a 10,000 foot wide volcano, Haleakala, the House of the Sun. The volcano remains a forbidding presence on the island due to the nature of it's dormancy. 1790 was the year of the last eruption. When you look at the view from the top of the volcano, and see the moonscape of Haleakala Crater you will be amazed at the sight. When visiting east maui you will see large amounts of tropical plants and beautiful waterfalls. The town of Hana is on the tip of the island and is one of the favorites of those who feel a little like a daredevil. Coiling along the North Shore on Hana Highway you will see the coastline which is impassable. The only way to see the beauty of the North Shore is to take a helicopter ride. The breathtaking views from the air along the northern shore must be seen to be believed, as you experience the lonely beaches, beautiful waterfalls, and tall, rocky cliffs. The helicopter ride you will take to view this area will be a great part of your trip. The oldest volcano in Maui is their mountains located in West Maui. All that remains of a once-huge volcano are these mountains. The rains have washed the mountains of the volcano until it has many valleys and ridges that encircle the west side of the island. Known as "The Valley Isle" due to it's mountains, West Maui gets around 500 inches of rain per year. The final result of all that rain are the waterfalls. Because it is inaccessible the area has remained untouched and it is truly one of the most spectacular areas you will ever see in your lifetime. When you go to Maui you should also visit Molokai, since there are only nine miles separating them. Molokai culture is very different. This casual and laid-back region is called 'one of Hawaii's best kept secrets', apparent in the scenic splendor and ambiance of the place. Another part of your helicopter trip should include the northeastern coast which is a very secluded area. The tallest sea cliffs are thousands of feet hoovering way over the beaches. That region is inaccessible to human beings. Nothing beats seeing the view while in a helicopter. Over half the residents of Molokai are, themselves, unfamiliar with this area. A visual spectacle, you certainly cannot miss this area of Hawaii. The region including East and West Maui, Hana and Molokai are truly worth the investment of time to discover authentic Hawaii.
