1)What Mood Are You In?

Your mood will always determine the kind of movie that you want to watch. Some days you might be in the mood to watching a puzzling thriller, whereas others your brain may only be able to handle a light romantic comedy. That's fine, but it's going to affect your choice.

If you are in a fragile kind of mood then try to find a movie that will help to lift that mood rather than lower it. Choose between adventure movies, fantasy, mystery, horror, comedy, romance or anything else you feel like.

2)Do Some Searching

When you have decided on what kind of genre movie you are in the mood to watch then you will need to search for movies that match this. If you are visiting the movie theatre then you are limited by the films that are currently out, so check the newspaper or your movie theatre website to see what's on and at what times.

If you are renting a movie then you have slightly more choice. You could just visit the local rental store and have a browse to see what catches your eye. You can read the covers of the movies, see which actors are in it or even take a look at the recommended picks. These are just some of the ways in which to narrow down your movie choice.

3)Read the Reviews

Of course, sometimes a glance at the DVD cover will not be enough. In which case you could read a few reviews about some of the movies you are thinking of watching. Check out the internet for listings of the top movies, or just search for individual movies and read user ratings. Just make sure that you don't spoil the movie by reading about the whole of the plot! There are plenty of movie rating sites that can help you with this.

4)Watch the Trailer

As well as reading reviews you should try to watch the trailer, and these are housed at a number of different movie sites. This is a great way to get a feel for what the film is about without spending too long searching. However, you should bear in mind that movie trailers can often be misleading and in some cases can be better than the film itself! For these reasons you can accompany this with the points above.

If you have enough time to choose then you should be able to find the perfect movie without any problem! And if you don't have the time, then maybe you can just ask a friend to lend you a DVD and see how it goes!
