What The Heck Is Network Marketing Anyway?
by Wendy Stevens, Wen
The biggest misconception about Network Marketing is that this is the same thing as a pyramid scheme. Nothing could be further from the truth. A pyramid scheme is strictly a money game. Remember those chain letters? There is no product just money changing hands in the hope that it will filter back to you and you will suddenly get rich. Although some of the newest pyramid schemes have a product, it is obvious that it is just a flimsy disguise for the same old money game.

Network Marketing, on the other hand, is a legitimate and potentially lucrative business. Like any other business you will not get rich overnight. If you are willing to put forth the effort, you will reap the benefits. You are building an organization that provides real products or services.

One of the beauties of this business model is that you and your lifestyle are not limited by what someone else thinks your time and effort is worth. You are not limited to only X number of dollars an hour or year no matter how hard or how much you work. Your income is only limited by your drive and desire to succeed.

To put it simply Network Marketing is a proven system where the design, creation and expense of a product or service has already been taken care of and streamlined by skilled professionals providing you with a tried and true path to success.

The most important facet of Network Marketing is leverage. By this I mean you can leverage your time and increase the number of hours of work for which you get paid by sponsoring other people and earning a small profit for their efforts. These people are your downline. Having an effective downline is one of the most successful ways to grow your bottom line.

The most productive network marketers sponsor other people and teach them how to sell the company product and how to sponsor others. When you help those you sponsor (your downline) to do the same for others (create their own downlines) you create an exponentially growing network of potentially hundreds or even thousands of individuals. By leveraging your time you have helped others succeed and you are earning an income from all their combined efforts as well as your own.

There are no big start up costs, no minimum quotas and no special skills required to succeed with Network Marketing. It is a perfect work from home business which can allow you to take advantage of the tax advantages associated with owning your own business. It is a people-to-people business that allows you determine your own level of success. The more you are willing to put into it the more you will get out of it.
