To Christians who have studied the Bible that statement has much meaning, howerver, we must realize that not everyone shares our conviction. Most who do not share our convictions often question that we have any good reason to care what the Bible says. After all the Bible says "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18).

The purpose of this article is to present an awareness of this simple disparity, for the purpose of leading us all to put first things first, so that our preaching of the Bible may no longer be foolishness to many around us and that they who would have thought it foolishness will no longer be "them that perish".

The people we communicate Bible truth to must be enabled to understand that the Bible is extremely important, and why that is so, or we waste our time, energy and breath.

What the Bible says is exceedingly important and has great meaning because:

1.The Creator of the universe, and of mankind, wrote it (2 Timothy 3:16). Yes, it's true that men appointed by God did the actual writing, but they wrote what God told them to write, therefore it has the authority of the Creator God of the universe.

2.The Bible reveals facts on how the universe works, and how man relates to it, and to God. It reveals that the most important aspects of life are spiritual and, therefore unseen by man in the physical body. (2 Corinthians 4:18). The Bible gives complete answers on these subjects, whereas science only garners bits and pieces through empiricism.

3.The Bible is the only spiritually inspired writing that shows the way to peace with God. All the other spiritually inspired writings began to come on the scene about 350 years after the Bible was begun, by God, through Moses. These subsequent "scriptures" have plagiarized, and are dedicated to refuting the Bible. These writings, such as the Hindu Vedas, the Koran, and the Book of Mormon are a few examples of the many supposedly holy writs, that are inspired indeed, by God's arch-enemy, Satan, the devil, the serpent of Genesis 3.

4.The fact that the Bible was written over a period of about 1,500 years, by over 40 different human writers and, in the original text is without error, has perfect harmony and agreement across the ages is, in itself a supernatural miracle. This is a claim that the devil has not been able to counterfeit. The Koran and the Book of Mormon are both purported to be written by one man each, and both are rife with contradictions. They are simply efforts to refute the Bible and to deceive those who won't submit to God, but who cannot escape the fact that they can't make it without Him.

5.The Bible contains over 300 prophecies (foretelling of future events) concerning the Lord Jesus Christ covering over 1,000 years, and they all came to pass during the human life of Jesus Christ, unmistakably identifying Him as Israel's promised Messiah & Savior of all mankind.

6.There is additional evidence that can be seen in the lives of people around us, who live their lives according to the Bible, (this means spiritually walking with Christ). These people have a mysterious satisfaction in life, they are "steady". They are able to suffer through their problems and sorrows purposefully and move on with life. When we watch them, we notice that they seem to have something unique, something that makes them different.

Of course, there are many other reasons that the Bible is important to humans beings. This is just intended to be a short article, not an exhaustive study on the subject.

Let's review quickly: the Bible is the inspired word of God, so it carries God's vital message for abundant living to all people. It also has the authority of God, which means that He Who is much more powerful than every created being has the power to win against all odds, and that everything the Bible says WILL absolutely happen sooner or later. He has complete unsurpassed power to enforce the entire message of the Bibleand He will, in His own good time.

" ...I delivered unto you...that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; that He was buried, andHe rose again the third day according to the scripture: And that He was seen of Cephas and then of the twelve." (1 Corinthians 15:3-5)

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved..."(Acts 16:31)
