When you are in the process of building a home there are many different things that you will have to think about. One of the most important is the interior dcor of your home. You might for example want to use modern designs, however this is not as easy as you might imagine. There are many things that you need to bear in mind when planning a modern designed home. Kitchen The kitchen is a very important room in every house, it's where everyone meets. The decisions made here about the design of the kitchen can make or break the design of the whole house. You should start by deciding whether you want an open plan kitchen, or a closed in design. Open plan is very useful if you like to talk to people while you are cooking. You then need to think about the lighting, how much natural light will be available in your kitchen? Will you need to supplement this with task lighting? Recessed lighting and track lighting are very popular forms of lighting for use in a modern kitchen. Many people like to have a window above the sink, so that they can daydream while washing up. You also need to consider whether you would like a double oven, built in microwave, built in dishwasher and island as these will only be possible if you cater for them in the design. In order to plan successfully you need to decide where most of the eating will be done. You might want to create a breakfast bar, or if you have a formal dining room this might be unnecessary. Benches would provide plenty of seating, or you could use chairs if you wish. The Living Room All of the family will gather in this room, and so it is an important room of the house. It should be a fun and entertaining room. When you are planning this room decide whether you want to fit a built in entertainment centre or some shelving. You might want to consider specialist shelving for certain items such as gaming systems. Custom shelving could be created to hold anything that you might want to store. You need to think about where you will put the TV. If you have a flat screen then will you mount it on the wall? If not then is there anywhere you can recess the TV into? Or would you prefer to put it on a purpose made entertainment centre. If you want surround sound then make sure you work out how to do this without compromising on your design, one way would be using ceiling speakers. You should carefully locate the windows so that you get enough light and air into the home as required. Choosing the can help. If you have a bay window then would you like to fit a seating unit? You might also want to consider window blinds to reduce dust. There are so many things that you need to consider when you are planning a modern home that it can be easy to lose sight of what you need to do, however with enough thought it is possible to succeed.
If you want things the way you want them, if you are not satisfied with the average house, if you want luxury but can't afford to pay too much of a premium for it, if you do not like so much uniformity, if you are a rugged individualist (alas, the breed is getting scarce), if you do not like the same level lots, the same lack of imagination shown in the design of tract houses, the stereotyped way of living associated with subdivisions, you want to build your own house.
Owning a home gives a feeling of permanence and security to a family that a hired stopping place can never give.
There is great satisfaction in planting a shrub or painting a wall and knowing that you are doing it for yourself and not for someone else.
When you own the house, you can stay long enough in one place to get the benefit of your work.
You can locate a good garden spot and not feel that the fertilizer you put on it will do more good for the next tenant than it will do for you. The trees you plant will grow for you and not for the landlord.
If you like to live in your own house, if your home is your castle, if you would rather be home than anywhere else, if a family enjoys being together, if a holiday can be spent leisurely at home instead of dashing madly about the country seeking
excitement, if you would like to raise a few flowers and enjoy gardening, if you like to entertain friends at home instead of taking them to the restaurant, if you like to sit around your own fire in the winter evenings, if living is more than mere existence to you, if you have children and they want pets, if you want your children to enjoy their home, to be proud of the place where they live, to grow up feeling that home is the most blessed place on earth, if these things are important to you, then you need a house of your own on a good-sized lot.
Although not everyone can have a beautiful house on a large lot in an idyllic country setting, overlooking mountains or lakes and still have it accessible enough for everyday living, a few can. Why not be one of the few?
Even if a lot more thinking and a lot more work will be required in building your own house, when you consider how many years you will have to work to pay for the house you buy, perhaps in the long run there is actually less work in building your own house in the first place.
If you buy your own home or land always use a mortgage calculator to get the best mortgage possible.
