Buying A Garden Childrens Playhouse
by Spencer Wilkins, Spe
Any parent will know that getting playhouses for their children has provided them with years of fun. If you are considering buying such an item for your child you will soon discover there are plenty of different ones to choose from. Some people prefer to buy those, which are prefabricated whilst others prefer to spend a little more and have a custom built one instead. But whichever they choose they know that their child is going to have hours of fun in it once it has been built.

When looking to buy a wooden playhouse for your child or children there are a number of different places where you can get them from. If you want go and take a look at your local garden center or DIY store to see what ones they have. But if you want to get something a little more unusual or bespoke then searching online is a great place to find what you are looking for.

However, there are a number of things that you will need to take into consideration before you actually spend any money. Below we take a look at what these are and the first one is where in your garden you are actually going to be locating it.

Ideally, it should be located in a position where the children can easily gain access to it. Plus if it is going to be used by very small (young) children then place it in a position where you have uninterrupted views of it from your home. Also if you can place it in a position where it gets lots of natural light as this means you will not need to have to spend more money running electricity to it.

Although most playhouses today are less than 100 sq ft in size it is advisable to check with your local building authority as to whether you need to have a permit to build it or not. Certainly most of those that measure less than 100 sq ft do not need any permit in order for them to be built.

When selecting what size playhouse you are getting for your child choose one that will meet all their needs as they grow older. Certainly going for the custom made rather than prefabricated style offers you more chance to select a design and size that meets your child's requirements perfectly.

After deciding on what size playhouse you want built you next need to decide on the design. At this stage of the selection process it would be a good idea to ask your child what kind of playhouse it is that they want. They may want something that is very simple or they may choose to go for something that looks a little more elaborate such as one that looks like a castle or pirate ship.

So be warned because there are so many different styles of playhouses to choose from actually deciding which is best may take longer than you would have first expected. If you keep in mind what we have mentioned above then you will be able to find one that not only your child likes but meets your budgetary requirements also.
