The excess fat around the abdomen is called visceral, adipose fat. This can be an indication that you have excessive, dangerous fat around your organs. On the surface you see subcutaneous fat that is just under the skin and hides your muscles. Deeper inside, underneath your muscle hides the dangerous visceral fat that normally protects your organs. But when there's too much, it is a scientific fact that it causes many health problems.

Excess abdominal fat creates health risk factors including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, stroke and even various forms of cancer. Your risk for these diseases can be greatly reduced by getting rid of excess fat.

In the sea of the information age, there are many diets and programs to follow to get rid of excess fat and weight. Many people lose fat only to gain it right back. But there is a technique that many have used that actually helps keep the fat off - body cleansing or colon cleansing.

Think about it - what you want to get rid of is abdominal fat - too much abdominal fat. When there is too much, it means your body cannot eliminate this fat, so it becomes waste. Colon cleansing and body cleansing are designed to do just that - help your body eliminate waste.

In addition, many people don't realize that the intestines can get a plaque build up just as the arteries can. In the arteries, people get a calcium-plaque even though their blood flows constantly, 24 hours a day. In the intestinal tract, you can get a mucus-plaque build up, even if you feel you have been healthy.

With any body cleanse or colon cleanse, there are three important steps.

Step 1 - You must eat a "cleansing diet" that is designed to help your body digest food quickly. When your body can digest food quickly, it can then eliminate more waste, more efficiently.

How does this help in the long run? The definition for metabolism is; how well your body can digest food and how well does it eliminate waste. When you eat meals designed for a cleansing diet, your body can digest it more completely and quicker. When you can digest food quicker, your body has more energy to eliminate the excess waste more easily.

Step 2 - Along with the cleansing diet, supplements are usually taken to help your body cleanse. Cleansing supplements contain herbs that have traditionally been used to strengthen the digestive tract. This is important as your intestines must be strong in order to eliminate the excess fat and waste.

Step 3 - Also part of the supplements is additional fiber, such as psyllium or flax seed powder. This type of fiber helps soften old build up that may be hiding in the intestinal tract. In addition, this fiber binds toxins such as the bad cholesterol, and helps remove it from your body.

Using a colon cleanse or a body cleanse can help you get rid of that dangerous abdominal fat once and for all. Look into the many programs available and learn all you can. No matter what you do, take care of your self and your health for you and your family's sake.

1)Be sure you are eating a sufficient amount of nutritious food; do not starve yourself in order to lose weight quickly. Our bodies require the vitamins, minerals and energy from food for basic function. If we are not providing our bodies with this, our bodies will be unable to function efficiently.

Starving yourself will only result in a decreased metabolism and the loss of lean body mass as opposed to adipose (fat) tissues.

2)If you are aiming to increase your fiber intake, be sure to adjust your water intake appropriately. This will avoid any complications that may occur due to excessive fiber intake.

3)Avoid buying snacks that are high in sugar or fat. For most people, snacking can occur subconsciously and they do not notice they are doing it. Avoid this situation by not having the snacks on hand. Other ways to prevent habitual snacking may also be to write down what you eat each day, in order to identify and eliminate any unnecessary snacking on unhealthy foods.

4)Many people opt to take supplements in order to increase their muscle mass or help them lose weight. Whilst supplements can be useful, it is important to remember that they are still just supplements and cannot be relied upon as a sole means for losing weight. All supplements still require the individual to adopt a healthy diet and to exercise. Thus they cost quite a bit of money, however do not accomplish anything significant. If supplements appeal to you, why not look at purchasing a simple multivitamin or mineral pill, as this will fill all requirements and will not cost as much as a supplement. A multivitamin will also help ensure you are not missing out on any vitamins or minerals as a result of decreasing the calorie intake of your diet.

If you feel you may need a multivitamin or supplement, it is best to consult either a dietitian or a doctor before making a decision. Discussing your options with a professional will ensure you make the right decision as to whether you do indeed require supplements or multivitamins and will prevent you from putting yourself into a dangerous situation (such as overdosing on particular vitamins or minerals by unnecessarily taking extra supplements). In most cases you should be able to obtain all required vitamins and minerals through diet alone.

5)Sugar can come in many disguises. Be sure to read food labels before consuming products. This will help you determine the overall sugar content of the food and will also aid in determining the amount of fat present. This will allow you to make an informed decision about the foods you eat.

6)You may have heard people mentioning a low carbohydrate diet in order to lose fat. Low carbohydrate diets are not appropriate. Our diets are meant to based predominantly on breads and cereals and thus carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy in the diet and thus, limiting carbohydrate intake will only serve to limit a quality source of energy which will leave an individual feeling fatigued and with little energy to perform daily activities. In the event that sufficient carbohydrates are not available for use as energy, the body will begin using protein for energy, instead of using it to build and strengthen muscle. As a result, muscle strengthening will not occur and thus, the six pack will not be able to become toned and visible.
