[W219]Web Site Marketing Strategies
by Stewart Woyo, Ste
After weeks of putting in endless hours of production time, you have finally created the perfect website. With vibrant pictures and professional graphics, you know that this site is going to bring in a lot of money. The first thing you do after unveiling the site is release it to the top search engines, expecting to get an overflow of new web traffic. But unfortunately, it doesn't take you long to realize that the search engines alone aren't getting the job done. What you must realize is, the only way to significantly improve web traffic is to develop a comprehensive online promotion strategy.
You may be thinking that an online website promotion strategy is too difficult to come up with. It's easier then you think! Here are 5 ways to drive traffic to your site and get you the hits you need.
1) Incentives are a great way to increase web traffic. Offer something for free, either a sample or a report. If you are advertising a product for sale, try giving away a free sample to anyone who visits the site. Offering a free report or free sample is another way for you to send some decent traffic to your website. This tactic is called "moving the free line". It is when you give the customer something for free, and in return, you incite an action from them, such as visiting your site.
2) If you are willing to spend money to make money, paying for traffic is a quick way to send visitors to your website. This also allows you to see if your website actually converts. Pay per click search engines and networks allow you to target visitors. With these, you only pay for visitors that actually land on your site. This very effective promotion method is best used if you have a specific targeted audience for your traffic.
3) Networking can be an extremely cost efficient way to drive lots of traffic to your site. Other marketers within your target market can partner with you, to open the door to a tremendous amount of free traffic. Build these relationships as much as possible. If the partnership is set up properly, it can be both a short term traffic winner and a long term profit bringer. Be sure to return the favor though, and add their links to your site to swap traffic. Make use of one another's email lists, and broadcast news and bargains to this wide pool of ideal targets. Many different types of partnerships are possible, so try and spend some time focusing solely on establishing these kinds of relationships. In my opinion, networking is the most effective method on this list for building lasting web traffic.
4) Remember that content powers the internet. Writing and submitting articles referencing your products and services, and then promoting them to hundreds of websites and directories, will create a powerful flow of lasting traffic to your business. This is called "critical mass" in the web marketing world. The term refers to a state wherein you have your name, site, and product out there in so many different places, you could not stop the referred traffic coming to your website even if you tried.
5) Adding on to tactic 4, producing and syndicating online videos is another great way to drive up your number of visitors. Video traffic tends to be very responsive, and syndicating a large number of videos online is a guaranteed way to increase website visitors. Not only will you receive traffic from the online video community, but also from a variety of search engines.

Keywords and meta tags are very important part of the overall website strategy. Even though they are not visible to most, but they are very important. As you build your website you have to consider what keywords or phrases your target audience may search to find your website online. Those keywords should appear in your Web content. Off course, that doesn't mean that you want to repeat those keywords endlessly.

Keep in mind that you have target audiences. One is going to be your customer. The other is going to be the search engines. You are going to need both in order to succeed. If your customers don't like your website they will quickly abandon it. If the search engines reject your site, your customers will never find your site.

Although search engines are very important there are other ways to drive traffic to your site. Blogs, forums, social networking sites, online magazines, paid listings, and more are also effective sources of traffic. Keep in mind that just like in any other business the more visitors you have the more exposure you get to potential customers. So your goal is to drive as many customers as possible to your website.

Having your contact information available on your side is a no-brainer. It is not enough to have one way for your customers to contact you. Some people prefer contact through e-mail while others prefer a phone call. There is not one way to contact your customer is going to satisfy everyone. Therefore, you should list as many different options as you can. E-mail, online chat, telephone, fax, mailing address is among the most popular options.

Competitive analysis is important. You should study your competitors' web sites to understand how you measure up. Studying and analyzing your competitor does not mean copying your competitor. It is always smart to keep an eye on your competition. You should be able to learn a great deal from visitor and competitors' web sites. Study the pros and cons and learn as much as you can. Don't feel bad about this. Everybody is doing it. Studying your competition is not only normal but smart business.
