Formany of those who could not get an iPhone, the announcement that theiPhone 3G will be available in Wal-Mart came as a New Year surprise. Many thought that they could gift themselves an iPhone now, since itwill be available at their friendly neighborhood store that's knownfor being a discount king. How wrong they were.
Wal-Martstores started selling the iPhone 3G on December 29th at awhopping $2 discount. The 8GB iPhone, which is available at Apple?sretail stores and service provider AT&T's outlets for $199 cannow be bought at Wal-Mart for $197, while the 16GB iPhone 3G pricedat $299 will be available in Wal-Mart at $297. The two year servicecontract with AT&T also remains.
Theones really happy about this not-so-great offer by Wal-Mart would bethose who have already bought the iPhone 3G for $199 and $299. Theirfears of over paying for the phone and that they could have waited alittle more for the iPhone to be available at Wal-Mart have vanishedinto thin air.
Thoselooking for a better discount for the iPhone could head to theelectronics retail store Best Buy where the 8GB and 16GB iPhone willbe available at $189.99 and $289.99 respectively.
Forthose lesser mortals who are not so brand conscious and are okay withany phone as long it can make and receive calls, there are hundredsof cell phones in the market. A little effort spent on and online will suffice. Remember the are the ones that also have a good and efficient cell service plan.
