[W7]Walk In Cooler Parts
by Mr.andrew Caxton, Mr.

Evaporative cooler parts are explained here. This can help you choose the best unit for your needs and understand how your cooler works.
The ability and performance from an evaporative cooler can vary depending on the parts contained in it. The function of the main evaporative cooler parts used in an evaporative cooler are explained in this article, advising the role of each individual component and how they work together to function as a cohesive unit.

The circulating pump, the thermometer, the absorbent wet pad and the cooling fan are the main components of the cooler unit and work as follows: First, hot air is drawn into the unit from outside and then, drawn through a wet pad which results in cooling the air. Then the cooled air is blown through the vents, indoors.

What is the biggest factor in the cooling result?

The wet pad is an important component and comes in several varieties. Absorbency is a very important factor in the type of pad used and the rate of absorbency averages between sixty and ninety percent (depending on what type of pad is utilized).

Aspen wood pads inside plastic netting are popular and very effective pads for these coolers. Fiber pads are also used. Pads are made in varying degrees of thickness and the general consensus is that the thicker the pad is, the better it works. Stacked tough corrugated material or fiber pads are also options that are utilized. These are a more expensive option up front but have a significant return on the investment due to less maintenance requirements and wind velocity.

Why is there a need for a circulating pump in the cooler?

Similar to functioning like a car radiator, a circulating pump keeps the water moving within the pad, keeping it wet and making the cooler function to continuously create the cooling action. Like a radiator, without the circulation, hot air would eventually result. The fan is a critical part of the evaporative cooler as well in that it's the component that brings the hot air into the cooler and pushes it through the wet pad, resulting in cooling prior to forcing it through the vents. The quantity of inlets in the evaporative cooler drawing the air from depends on what kind of wet pads are installed. The higher number of inlets, the lower the resulting amount of air velocity.

There are several factors that determine how effective the evaporative cooler is. The temperature is determined on the outside temperature, the pad used and the overall working condition of the unit. The pump and the pad can have the biggest impact on the unit's performance.

Have you ever wondered how your air cooler operates or what it is made up of? The swamp cooler is not only easy to operate, but it is also made up of simple parts that work in a natural manner. The main evaporative cooler parts consist of a blower motor, evaporative pads, recirculation water pump, blower, screen, and float valve.

Workings Of Cooler Parts

We often opt for air coolers to cut down electricity bill. The blower motor is energy efficient since it just has to circulate the air instead of compressing it as in air conditioners. It is best to buy an air cooler that has 2-3 speed blower motor with appropriate blower regulator. The blower motor generally has 1/3 or ¾ horsepower.

The direct evaporative coolers are categorized by the style of pad that is used. There are two basic types of pads used in an evaporative cooler – fiber pads and rigid-sheet pads. The fiber pads are very common and are made up of shredded aspen that are placed in nets made of plastic. The thickness of the pads varies from 1-2 inches. For thinner pads, double pads should be placed in the pad frame to improve the effectiveness of saturation.

Rigid-sheet pads consist of a pack of corrugated sheets through which air passes and are 8 - 12 inches in thickness. These pads cost more than the aspen pads and lasts for a longer time.

Operations Of Various Air Cooler Parts

Water is constantly supplied to moisten the pads inside a cooler. The excess water collects in a sump below the pads. The recirculating water pump is used to send back this water to the pads for constantly keeping it wet.

The float valve controls the level of water in the sump that is accumulated at the bottom of the air cooler. When the level falls below normal, they add water to keep the level constant. A powerful fan is used to draw air from outside into the air cooler through the wet pads. This process of making the air pass through water molecules cools the air temperature. The fan then acts as a blower and blows out the cooled air into the room where it is placed.

These air cooler parts ensure the proper functioning of the system so as to provide you with an economic and healthy way of constantly filling your room with cool and fresh air.
