The Walt Disney Classics Collection is a collection of Disney characters figurines that have been immortalized in blends of porcelain, earthenware, metal, acrylic and pewter. Each figurine is casted and formed based on scenes from their animated films and television.

The concept of creating the Walt Disney Classic Collection line up is to define what Disney has done for everyone in the world through their revolutionary style of entertainment spearheaded by none other than Walt Disney himself. Disney animation has been considered to be the one that "started it all" by making hand drawn images that moves that started at the beginning of the 20th century. The art of animation has then become a popular widespread trend among different American animators and audiences which has then spread and reached global popularity reaching the shores of Europe and Japan.

For decades, animation has also become an art form and a part of the American culture and even the American economy. The Walt Disney Classics Collection adopts Disney's principles of the "illusion of life" that has defined Disney animation and had given them the right to be world class.

But what is the meaning of "Illusion of life?" The Illusion of life, in terms of meaning, is the concept of giving viewers a whole different world that they can be swept away and given a momentary escape from the real world and be part of something wonderful with excitement and imagination.

Disney's feature titled "The Illusion of Life" is a mix of real life and animation mainly of people who are behind the creation and voices of Disney characters. This film also explains how Disney animated films are made with different techniques of utilizing the voice talents and techniques in sketching of the images and backgrounds which is one of the inspirations behind WDCC.

The Illusion of Life features the actress Hayley Mills who starred on Disney films like Pollyanna, The Parent Trap, The Moon Spinners and That Darn Cat!. Mills started her acting career with Disney at a very young age during the 1960's and became a very popular child star during that period. Mills also starred in the TV series "The Wonder Years" playing the role of Kevin Arnold's (Fred Savage) mom.

The Illusion of Life also features the animator responsible for the wholesome Disney characters that brought out the emotions of the audiences. The main animators featured in this film were two of the deemed "Nine Old Men" of Disney, Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. These two and seven other animators were given the name "Nine Old Men" as a joke by Walt Disney himself deriving the moniker from President Franklin D. Roosevelt's description of the nine justices of the US Supreme Court, even though they were just in their 30's and 40's during that time. Aside from Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, the other Nine Old Men were: Les Clark, Wolfgang Reitherman, John Lounsbery, Eric Larson, Ward Kimball, Milt Kahl, and Marc Davis.

The Illusion of Life was also revised into a book titled "The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation" which contains 489 full-colored plates and black and white illustrations ranging from storyboard sketches to entire animation sequences which defined the efficient styles and techniques of Disney animation.

With the Walt Disney Classics Collection, each figurine piece is incorporated with Disney's principle in animation which illustrates the artistic and meticulous method of making each character that captured the hearts of millions of people.
